From layby on S. side of A628, up RoW to obvious high point on banking by wall & perimeter fence.gerrybowes24/03/2024
5 mins from layby to SE. The public right of way has been completely blocked off with a locked gate (you can actually see the yellow arrow footpath marker on the innaccesible side). HP east of compound over wall, another Trump (a pretty worthless TUMP)Nick Canute28/03/2022
From lay-by, easy up to east of reservoir. Also followed FP through kennels and to woods which seemed higher.PeterD04/06/2021
From layby opposite ROW to S. Quick up and down.PGCE15/04/2021
Reduced to this by Coronavirus lock down. Cycle from home to Hartcliff Hill (excellent) and this (hostile territory at least during lock down - locked compounds and barking dogs)Neil Midgley23/04/2020

From lay by to the south. Easy to step over the low broken stone wall to walk up by the side of the reservoir. No access problems. Although it seemed it might be slightly higher in the trees behind the kennels office. Went to visit the trig too. Back same way through kennels. Solo.Dangerous Dave12/11/2019
Parked in lay by to the SSE at SE260043. Easier than expected.David Evans03/06/2019
3 of 5 on 25.6 mile bike ride including hartcliff hill, briery busk, hunger hill, hoyland hill and pool hill. Easier ride than my other recent jaunts. Had my dinner on this one. Fitting for the name of the placeThe-Z-Man08/09/2018
walked up from Penistone after doing Hartcliffe Hill. Waited for bus in Hoylandswaine but was refused entry because the bus was full! luckily rescued by a kind Sheffield United supporter with a lift to Dodsworth station.IanHHill08/12/2017

1st of only Two hills today with Lexi Rue , my partner's Labradoodle. We Took the train from Dodworth to Penistone and after sustenance at the Arts cafe We Took the road under the railway and headed up via a footpath to Hoylandswaine where after crossing a road a Track leads toeither on Adt side or on kennels and fenced off reservoir. Highest point is either on the Eastern side or a bit further on in the woods.Dazingdale26/06/2016
Walk up field from road to the south east.vegibagger27/04/2016

Large lay-by on the main road almost opposite the path up to the summit (alt 872ft). Immediately after the start of the path is a gap in the wall which gives access to the field in which the highest point is. However, this is in full views as you walk up(though it was thck mist when I visited). Best walk up to the kennels and cut across from the top of the road. 476 yards return. 10 mins max.moorsman15/12/2015
Fp up drive to Cliffe animal boarding kennels (est 1965) and rescue centre who do a fab job look to rehome rescue cats & dogs. ( £200 to adopt a dog). They welcome old blankets or towels for bedding.Field edge alongside led to side of compound highpoint. In gloom so I also double backed around to west of centre to check out high ground there and to trig for revisit.Chris Pearson13/08/2015
from Silkstone via Hoylandswaine & Silkstone Common, with Hunger Hilljoseph mitchell18/06/2014
Good parking spot at head of road leading to Hoylandswaine off A628. Path along A628 short way then lane leading to 'The Cliffe, kennels, cattery and RSPCA rescue'. All closed, stepped over into field, short way along fence to high point and view into compound, covered reservoir and comms?Aye Jimmy20/04/2014
