As others, parked on Mount Road about 30m S. of Kniveden access track - Up track past mast & then a short climb over pasture to high point. Friendly farmer was working opposite the mast and was happy for me to head up to the top.gerrybowes13/12/2023
Parked on the road, the reservoir gate was open so I went through that , up a pasture, over a wooden fence and popped out on the top close to the farm. I had been intending to ask permission but had already bagged it so returned to my car.clivevilla13/01/2023
From Mount Rd, 5 mins, 2 gates.Nick Canute25/06/2022
Parked on Mount Road. Knocked at the farm to ask permission but no one answered. Wandered across 10 yards of grass to the summit, which was decorated by farm machinery, then went on my way.RoguePulsar15/12/2020
6 of 6 on 23 mile bike ride. Hopped over fence across from farm and up to reservoir. No farmer around so free to eat a sandwich and take my time.The-Z-Man08/01/2020
Approached on farm track to the NW and then across the grass west of the mast. Intercepted by a farmer who was happy to grant permission.Moorponder11/03/2019

Last hill of 5 today on a route from the Cat and Fiddle to Leek (starting location courtesy of drop-off from the Nottm Ramblers coach from Nottingham. Climbed Whetstone Ridge, Gradbach Hill, the Roaches and Hillswood Hill and continued to follow Staffs Moorland path over Buxton road and then used the route most people have taken, the farm track veering off to go past transmitter (slowly passing sheep with lambs) then up to high point overlooking farmhouse and associated buildings. Returned same way but then explored reservoir (lower) before heading back onto path before heading NW on main road into Leek to finish at the Bus station. Return route 18 bus to Hanley, 25 bus to Stoke on trent then train to Nottingham via Derby.Dazingdale09/07/2017
Its proving usefull working for STW. Two fellows working on a hole in the road outside reservoir gates. Had a chat then hopped the fence up to compound. The ground on the other side of the hedge certain looked as high too.stig_nest17/04/2017
Five Tump walk around Leek taking in Longsdon Hill, Hillswood Hill, Kniveden Hill, Revedge Hill and Ferny Hill. Up farm drive to corner then along bottom of field past transmitter and up to the top.davidpettit8404/03/2017
Despite been misty a farm hand saw me at the summit. He was friendly enough and probably thought I had been let out of the asylum for the day after my explanation about visiting the high places of Staffordshire.David Evans16/01/2017
Nice day for 8 tumps in the Staffs snow starting with Kniveden Hill.Mark Sims14/01/2017
Up farm track. Farmer drove up track as I was leaving. Enquired as to what I was doing. Seemed perplexed by my description of hill bagging! However, he was quite reasonable and I hope I left him slightly more informed than previously.Campbell Singer03/11/2016
As ngthack, kept low profile but seen by farm-hand in pickup. Took pictures of mast pretending to be comms operative; should have worn a high-vis jacket and white helmet!Aye Jimmy15/03/2016
Parked by road to the south and over the wall and one more wall. Summit in field. Good viewpointAdrian27/09/2015
A quick scuttle up the farm track keeping to dead ground as long as possible before emerging briefly onto the highest point just above the farm house.Chris Pearson26/07/2015
