Parked top of Henshaw St, 4 mins to summit, well trodden path heading up the mound as you pass the mast on the left. Explored the immediate surroundings to show willing. Would be a nice escape for the residents of Oldham if humans could learn to endure the hardship of taking litter home with them. On to Mossley.Alfa1M15/12/2023
Parked parked on Higginshaw Road close to junction with Yewbarrow Road - Through kissing gate, up steps to playing field & then immediate right along ridge path to summit.gerrybowes25/10/2023

From the W, over park/playing field to the nice little wooded ridge with fire beacon and moorland views to E, pity about the litter. (I bet Compton Street is is a challenge in snow and ice.)RichardM11/04/2021

Aim for Higginshaw Road, Oldham. There is easy roadside parking close to a bes stop at a point where a barrier and some steps lead up to the col. Turn left at the top and head just beyond the mast. 750m, 10 minutes return.moorsman07/03/2019
From Higginshaw Lane. Up obvious fp and along to mast and beyond beacon. Much fly tipping.Campbell Singer11/11/2018

Last hill of Four today and this completes Oldham Co. Walked from a private house in Milnrow (Airbnb) via Moss Gate, Crompton Moor and Shaw side and then took the tram to Derker. I weaved my way up through the estate to reach the Southern end of the ridge. Such a contrast here, on one side is flat as a pancake playing field and on the ridge a spur of wild nature and on the other housing galore. I explored all possible high points, they seemed to be in brambles, A pleasing traverse over the ridge and then on a different line through housing back to Derker to take the tram to Victoria and then Manchester Picadilly for train home.Dazingdale04/12/2016

'Climbed' from low down to the east passing rows of terrace houses with back yards, mixed with newer housing. Walk along crest to top and to mast. Oldham Council host the Big Bang firework display here each November as there are 'panoramic views across Manchester and beyond which means the fireworks display can be seen by residents from miles around'.Surely this fleeting entertainment cant survive council cut backs.Chris Pearson05/08/2015
Parked on Higginshaw Road near junction with Yewbarrow Road, then up obvious track to summit then down hill to mast and beacon.Dugswell201/05/2015

Through metal gate as the Gradwell trio. The grass certainly was green - and wet. Summit by track and just beyond is beacon with plaque and a comms mast.Aye Jimmy11/05/2014
On Owdham Edge the grass is green, nicest view that e'er tha's seen. If tha stands on t' top and tha looks about, there's nowt but mills wi' a chimbley spout. Well I went up to heaven one morning in May, th' angels said where does't come from and where does't tha stay? When I towd 'em, from Owdham, how they all did stare, they said come in lad tha'rt welcome, tha'rt first 'un from there.George Gradwell04/05/2014
Parked on Higginshaw Rd opposite public footpath at SD 93003 05840. Through metal kissing gate and up onto Edge and turned right. Highest point is beside path on left at SD 92913 05899.David Gradwell04/05/2014
