Parked near a school, went down a small public footpath then trampled through some trees next to a derelict hospital up a reservoir covered in grass which was the highest point. With Dad.speedyclimber01/01/2024

Hospital seems to be closed now.Adrian29/07/2023
4th top out of 5 today, After The Bent parked up at Rudyard reservoir car park. After indulging in Coffee and cake i did a nice circular but dropped off path to reach road in hospital grounds and then via open gate to reservoir to reach high point at the back near some bamboo with a pond right next to it. Clambered through the rhododendrons to make sure and then climbed to top of reservoir before continuing my return route..Onwards to Ladderedge country park for Longsdon hill...Dazingdale18/03/2023
Leek Circular: Longsdon Hill, Rea Cliff, Gun and Hen CloudPhilipChaston04/12/2022
Via footpath between houses just north then undergrowth.Nick Canute17/04/2022
Pleasnt fp then a bit of a tussle to win through from the back through the low trees and undergrowth. Marched back down the driveway and over side fence as all closed before breakfast. Down below the steep woods is Rudyard Resr b.1797 to supply the canal system. A certain Mr Kipling (not the cake maker) met his future wife here and subsequently named their son.. Rudyard - a name that inspired the name Kipling Grove for a famous rock climb in Langdale as it is 'ruddy ard'.(crux move requires committing to groping over an o'hang for a crucial hold whereby you are either up or off !as the guidebook puts it). Captain Webb, the first channel swimmer, came to demonstrate his skills here - 'ruddy cold' I imagine. The African Blondin (Carlos Trower) amazed the crowds 30m above the Lake on a tightrope. The lake became known as the Blackpool of the Potteries in its heyday.Chris Pearson30/03/2022
12:30, overcast, 15 degrees, strong south westerlies. Via footpath starting on road to west. Nice mixed woodland. Barely in view of hospital.Wycombe Wanderer27/10/2021
From foot path to NE.RichardM29/03/2021
Parked on the road and walked up the hospital drive and across to the reservoir and pond area. It is quite bramble and nettly but I went to everywhere that looked likely. It was a bit difficult as I was snapping twigs and generally having difficulty being quiet and was worried about how I might explain myself if confronted. I was not.clivevilla26/05/2020
2 of 6 on 23 mile bike ride. Up steep cameos hill till reached footpath at top of hill across from school which also passed through someone’s garden and into woodland at back of house. Followed this trail till I came into hospital grounds before someone asking if I was lostThe-Z-Man08/01/2020
Started from CP N of Rudyard Lake. Approached summit from ROW immediately N from which you can access hospital grounds. Reservoir still openly accessible from hospital road. With whole family. Damp cold and foggy so no views.RoguePulsar27/12/2019
Through hospital gates to reservoir and just beyond, also topped said reservoir.PeterD05/10/2018
Hospital gates/access track to resr SJ944586 - walk up tarmac road to open, ungated resr - easy. Alternate summit - the private road from SJ943588 is tarmac all the way to the sailing club @ SJ945595 where their is plenty room to park above the private sailing club car park. The road down is lined with many private dwellings and holiday lets, so drive down as no one will know whether you should or not. Will shorten the 2.4ml walk considerably. There is also a lay-by used as a turning spot at SJ946593 which is not marked private, no parking.carole engel28/01/2018

From Hospl drive. Easter Monday so not a lot of folk about. Even managed to top the resv.stig_nest17/04/2017
Parked on road near hospital gates. Gates were open so summit easily reached beyond covered reservoir.davidpettit8404/03/2017
Quick walk from the west on the narrow ROW between two houses that briefly crosses the back yard of the right hand one, then path goes down 50-60m then forks up right, behind the summit to the north. There is then a brief hop over the fence into some laurel and bramble for twenty metres or so to small reservoir that seems in private grounds of bungalow.vegibagger29/12/2016
Parked in staff car park in hospital grounds. Took less than 5 minutes.Campbell Singer03/11/2016
Hospital gates open: Easy access. Yesterday had aborted attempt from North (via footpath). Undergrowth very dense, so decided for easy option (as GA). Solo.David Evans17/10/2016
Hospital gates shut. F/p from N starts next to Oakwood (opposite side of road to school) and followed easily to about 25m from summit. This lies in some dense rhodie and brambly ground between a lawn and a garden. Over wall and intricate struggle through the undergrowth brings one to pond near covered reservoir. Also visited old summit: followed road by lake until well past last buildings to huge tree stump near SJ 9422 5964. Straight up wood from here, slippery with plenty of rocks, brambles and rhodies. Over fence at top to gently rounded field summit.Aye Jimmy30/03/2016
'new' summit from N via RoW as hopl gates closed. Natural HP seems to be by small pond just N of resr and c. 1m lower. 'old' summit visited - track beside resr then straight up, a bit cliffy if ascend too soon.RHW10/04/2015
Being aware of the access challenge, I had left this for a winter's day. Good job I re-checked hill-bagging, because I had not realised that it had been relocated. Gate to Horton Hospital was open: no problem to reach new grid ref reservoir mound. So with Judy we walked down to Rea Cliffe Farm and asked the farmer to let us go up to the old grid ref (a far nicer point), but received a very firm NO. So we walked down to the lake at Cliffe Park Lodge and fought our way up the dense woodland to the top fence line.GordonAdshead31/01/2015
