Down the track from Middleton then right just before the bridge takes you along to another footbridge. Just the other side there are some metal steps. Turn left at the top onto a path which fizzles out. I made it up from there and went over some flattened corrugated metal, up through some woodland and then up across some pastures.clivevilla22/02/2023

First new Tump of day after Darlton Quarry re-ascent. Midday, 3 degrees sunny spells at Middleton, dropping to 1 degree heavy snow later. NE breeze. Beautiful, peaceful and interesting area with a hint of enchantment. With Bag For Life.Wycombe Wanderer10/04/2021
Up a steep slope from the river at Youlgreave, clear+ snowy views on top. Summit on a fence post.Joel45113/02/2021
Plenty of parking available in Middleton village with an excellent path leading downwards towards the hill. This climbs a set of metal steps before heading off right to a squeezer stile. Immediately after this stile turn left and head upwards, unhindered, to the summit.moorsman11/07/2020

From the quiet village of Middleton By Youlgreave I took the footpath east. Where the footpath forks I headed to the right and over a stile. Then it was through 2 fields of cows keeping to the left and down to a stone footbridge. I crossed this and turned right. At the end of the wood I turned left and headed steeply up alongside the wood. Then at the top edge of the wood I crossed a broken wall with barbed wire and into a field. Then up the field to a gate. I crossed the gate and the summit was a short distance away next to a stone wall. Good views from the top.Neil Haslewood14/07/2017
Linear walk from Middleton to Youlgreave.jimbloomer02/04/2017
Down lane from Middleton. Took fp to the right, down through pasture following power line to brook and over footbridge. Swung left and climbed up the line of wood, over bwf next to woodland up to hp. 13 th Tump before lunch at Molly Moo's Tearoom in Middleton.Campbell Singer28/09/2016
Third of four today. From footbridge over river to south, headed up into woods and then skirted quite precariously above steep drops round to the west. Found a fence I could cross and then headed up to top. Returned south and found a little gap in the wall I could squeeze through.Wheelsy07/02/2016
Very pleasant walk going east from main junction in village- easy parking . Walked east into gorge- turn right before river, then over footbridge and up metal steps to gate . Right again to edge of conifers then turned straight up adjacent to trees.Mark Sims23/01/2016
3 tops on an 8 mile circular with L from Stanton in Peak via lovely stream at Alport & Bradford and up fp through pastures until open field led to top. Youlgreave to the north was once the centre for Derbyshire lead mining. Now farming (lots of cows) and tourism (many holiday cottages and caravan sites) dominate.Chris Pearson14/07/2015
5th hill of six starting from A515 2 mi south of Newhaven, climbing Aleck Low, Gratton Moor, Blakelow, Anthony Hill, Hopping farm caravan site. Walked up beside conifer plantation and then over two fences at sheepfold to walk over summit beside wall. Descended diagonally to reach fp into Youlgreave where i had a coffee at the Pub.Dazingdale04/05/2015
Mega parking in Middleton. Lane down through gorge, over bridge then steeply up through wood. Fence at top into field. Wall goes over a rise at summit.Aye Jimmy07/02/2015
wall crosses summit. From W, Middleton, down lane, keep R, cross FB then keep R, cross stile then straight up - this avoids all wallsRHW18/11/2012
Approached via the campsite at Hopping Farm. Had a nightmare climbing up through vegetation and scree but thankfully the summit is in an open field and a great view.Jake99424/09/2006
