Parked by Corporatio Park at 676286. Up through park past 'Colourfields' panoptican & out top end, The panoptican has lost all its colour! Round the back of houses on to open land & found summit area a good viewing point for Bowland Hills in particular. | KeithByTheC | 15/10/2023 |
Almost a drive over on way from ring road to Billinge Hill. Parked near RoW sign; topograph and HP with about 300 m. walking. With Pete | pwheeler | 20/03/2023 |
Parked in a quiet side road off Revidge Road to the west. Walked up Revidge Road, then in between the houses to the topograph, which still has a good view northwards. | silveracorn_alan | 03/12/2022 |
A little excursion on my birthday to bag some nice local hills: Mellor Moor, Stanley Hill, Billinge Hill and Revidge. Some nice dramatic views on a sunny autumn afternoon. | Lazylizzie | 19/11/2022 |
From the path in between the two houses. Two minutes there, two minutes back. Easy Peasy. Nice view and great topograph | Wayne Mac | 04/09/2020 |
Parked on Revidge Rd,about 1/2 mile away. Surprised by the view and by the deer on top. | Andrew Pearson | 04/03/2020 |
Walked over from Billinge Hill with Alfie. I'm sure this must have been a nice hill once (about 200 years ago!). The summit, above the topograph, is now fenced off! It's easy to step over but I was confronted by the owner who ran up to shout at me for trespassing! | Dangerous Dave | 03/02/2020 |
What a nice little surprise. Maybe hill of the day. | Wycombe Wanderer | 16/01/2020 |
parked on Revidge rd near Red Rake and took narrow path to the top | colinfielding | 26/06/2019 |

As ADT. First light Sunday morning. Big misty views which were a surprise as Revidge Rd itself is not that scenic. | Campbell Singer | 02/09/2018 |
Between house to Topograph, and earth bank. | PeterD | 09/04/2018 |
Solo. Parked on Revidge Rd. Gained access to the summit via a ginnel between No 389 & a white house (No 391?). There's a broken sign post on the other side of the road. Standing on the banking gives sight of Deepdale & Ewood Park! | ADT | 01/04/2018 |
Walked up steep cobbled Brantree past Victorian park to weirdly named top - the Tank | Mark Sims | 13/03/2018 |
Parked at end of Paignton Rd. Narrow track between houses. | jonglew | 25/12/2017 |
1st Hill of 7 today. I had stayed overnight in Blackburn and wandered around the centre enjoying the generally friendly vibe, bought a New compass in Trespass (apt I thought considering yesterday's adventures!)Up through urban streets with children making snowmen, through the grand looking Corporation park, then up through a cobbled footpath to a winter wonderland and summit just behind the snow-covered toposcope. Walked a short distance on another footpath before looping back through public access back onto Revidge road, heading towards Billinge Hill.... | Dazingdale | 09/12/2017 |
P on Revidge Rd just W of top. | chrisbien | 07/12/2017 |
Footpath from Revidge Road to S. | Chris Peart | 18/10/2017 |
2 minute detour on way home from work. | Longwojo | 11/04/2017 |
Did'nt hang around here too long, a few dodgy youths knocking about | bardolph | 12/02/2017 |
No easy grab for me, came from Mellor Moor on waterlogged farm paths. Bitten in buttock by a dog on one of the farms. Reported to dog warden. | Martin R | 07/02/2017 |
My dad grew up on the very steep terraced streets below here and remembers 'The Tank' and climbing as a boy up iron steps to the top of the big water tank (which was demolished in 2001). Today he waited in the car as I went up the path to enjoy the sharp autumnal views of hills including The Bowland Fells and Ingleborough. These fine views earned the tank the nickname of Blackburn Pier. In 1879 when the tank was being inserted a bronze age urn of cremated human bones was found buried 4 feet down- inverted -signifying a female burial. | Chris Pearson | 02/11/2016 |
Footpath clear today.Good views north.With Oscar. | catman | 13/01/2016 |
With Catman. | oscarrosie | 13/01/2016 |
Footpath still overgrown. Surprising considering the number of people up there & the piles of litter. Last of Blackburn with Darwen. | ngthack | 04/10/2015 |
Ramsgreave to Blackburn. Descended via DG's steep cobbled street - quite slippy at this time of year. | Smudge | 03/01/2015 |
Barely 100m walk via an overgrown footpath from the S, to sudden arrival at topo in long grass with 'The Tank' inscribed. Also its 'World position' given in degrees, minutes, seconds and height in feet. The summit is a few metres above this on grassy banking. | Aye Jimmy | 26/07/2014 |
Levelled area above topograph: 50,000 gallon water tank 1897 since removed.. From S alley to ridge r/o houses, public access | RHW | 15/12/2012 |
Short walk from the road with very fine views to Bowland and the Yorkshire Dales. Noted there was a lot of litter around, quite a shame some people have no respect for nature. | Jake994 | 08/12/2012 |
summit area known locally as "The Tank" | George Gradwell | 31/07/2012 |
Parked just inside blocked off side-street (Brantee Drive) at SD67584 29347. Before bagging the hill it's worth walking the short distance to the metal posts for a look down this incredibly steep cobbled street. Summit is left along road for c100m then right on public footpath through houses. | David Gradwell | 25/02/2012 |
Just need to find the correct lane to get to the high spot near Blackburn. Photo on Geograph. | Dugswell2 | 11/02/2012 |
