Day light rapidly fading, last of the day on cycle from Derby to Sheffield. Water tower prominent when approaching from the S. Pavement by lamppost S side of fenced reservoir enclosure. | RichardM | 07/02/2017 |
This isn't mountaineeering. 'Summit' probably lamp post or verge other side of road. | RobertP | 04/12/2016 |
My last Sheffield top, and a bit of an anticlimax really...it's not even a very exciting lamppost :P | the_adam | 29/09/2016 |
1st hill was Gawks hill to re-complete Doncaster Co. on a train from Sheffield to Thurnscoe fimishing at Goldthorpe. On return to Sheffield I Took the next tram to Herdings park and in the pouring rain I DID a wallk to the compound and
then round to the tram stop before Herdings. I went on pavement and next to fence. using Ash trees next to fence to access compound But Gps readings no higher. Return back via footpaths on East side of A6102 until tram stop reached. Back to station then train to Nottingham. | Dazingdale | 03/09/2016 |
Exploration from the tram terminus. An unsatisfactory top. | summitsup | 30/06/2016 |
On foot from home on a lovely spring evening. The view from the tower must be excellent | DC | 09/05/2016 |
Enjoyable walk up from Sheffield centre following various paths; after spending some time in the vicinity of the water tower, returned to pubs via Round Sheffield pathway. | DanHolme | 07/11/2015 |
Walked here from train station.Sheffield CoU completion. | ngthack | 18/08/2015 |
From Coal Aston. | Wheelsy | 15/07/2015 |
Re visiting my home city for the summer.Visited with L on a minor detour whist making a day of slowly walking the 15 mile Sheffield Round Walk. An excellent hilly route linking woods and parks on the SW of the city. I had seen this water tower for years on the skyline across the city when living in Crookes to the NW and now know what I was looking at. | Chris Pearson | 15/07/2015 |
Passrd over this many times as a kid in the car but never walked up to the top. Got the tram to Herdings Park to see the 218m trig, which is in surprisingly good condition then walked through the estate and up the lane to the tower. The lamppost also gets my vote. | Jake994 | 24/05/2015 |
I vote for the lamp-post. Third county completion of the day - drained the malt bottle by now, just a lingering sniff. Cake crumbs only. | Martin R | 22/11/2014 |
Martin Richardson's third TUMP completion of the day so parked near the roundabout and walked upto and passed the water tower. Lets hope Martin sleeps on the drive back as I can't stand anymore of his whisky fuelled singing. | Dugswell2 | 22/11/2014 |
Parked at E end of Norton Lane, near roundabout. Walked up lane to summit, pavement verge on tower side of road. | Aye Jimmy | 26/10/2014 |
E side of footway outside resr apparently equivalent to natural HP, resr compound slightly lower. 229gps. parking at water tower entrance. My final Sheffield P30, | RHW | 11/02/2012 |
