A good rainy day option if you just have to bag a hill today and happen to be hanging around the Forest of Bowland. Otherwise, best to go elsewhere.summitter22/05/2022
A lovely spot on the (back) edge of the the Bowland Fells. The (apparantly)almost twin summit 400m west of Baines Cragg is the finer having a small path wending through the rocks and bracken to its rocky summit above the jumble of the broken gritstone crag - esoteric in climbers jargon. It also presumably gave its Cragg name to this hill (even with an extra g than usual -being just 1 of 3 hills on hb spelt Cragg as opposed to 171 Crags). Troops and packs of scouts sometimes climb on Baines Cragg -once they have made the stiff steep mile hike up from the scout campsite down by Artle Beck.Chris Pearson17/05/2022

1/2 Parked on this Quernmore road just short of the summit of the hill, bagged this hill then walked on footpath just East of the summit across to Clougha Pike using well signed paths on the open access. Then after summit, back down the gravel wide driveway to rejoin the road and walk back up the road to the car. 2 very lovely hours out in the heather moors.nickywood101/08/2021

From Grit Fell via good path east of Cragg Wood. Returned to Rigg Lane car park via road then lovely path sw fron Cragg Wood. Initially from the road down to the stream, this path by the edge of the wood was overgrown, but passable. KeithByTheC10/08/2020

Parked on smaller of two car parks to west at SD 54681 61794. Highest point is a large half buried rock on north side of road at SD 54790 61803. Visited the more interesting Baines Crag to west of car parks and determined it was lower but not by much!David Gradwell23/01/2011
