A beautiful, breezy day in May. Via bridleway to SE. There is no bridleway sign but a helpful couple at the adjacent house assured me I was in the right place. Nice summit with tarn.Wycombe Wanderer27/05/2022
A bit dreich in a thin rain across cow slurried pastures from the N. Much slurry had unhelpfully sloshed out by the gates. Footpaths here feel seldom followed with little sense of where they go.Chris Pearson30/03/2022
There's a small, old gravel quarry (?) with pool at the summit; we thought the S bank was higher. Grey snowy day. Approached from N. There's a useful layby on the A518, just SW of the turning by Glebe Farm, Billington. The footpaths in the immediate vicinity of the farm buildings are quite overgrown, so it might be easier just to cut across the grassy field from the layby to the footpath via a hunt jump.Denise 02/01/2021
From the N parking in layby on A518 W of Billington. Start on footpaths then fields of pasture to summit. Summit has hollow possibly left from quarrying gravel?, high point on S side of hollow, E edge by tree very similar height. Direct line back over snow covered fields to layby.RichardM02/01/2021
From SE. Initially on ROW, then direct.PGCE26/12/2020
Parking SJ 8945 1941. RoW for approx 200m then took a direct line to SJ 8913 1963 after which followed field bdy. Nice area and a bonus nearby trig buried block of the same name, which is no longer buried.jonglew17/08/2020
From SE along FP initially then field margins to reach HP. My last Tump in Central and Eastern England, until another is found.PeterD23/09/2019
Parked nr Coppenhall then used ROW N of Butterhill House, then ROW to E of summit. Friesians in lower field but no problems. Nice views to the N. 44m ascent from where I parked (SJ 90523 19367)RoguePulsar04/09/2018
gorse and polytunnels. Surprised to find toppled Buried Block on gorsey lump near summit under wire fence.cjo26/05/2018
1st of two tumps with Lesley on a 14.5km route from Billington back to Stafford. We took the footpath that rounds the shoulder of Appletree Hill entering a field full of cows but had to divert into adjacent field due to their unwelcome attention incurring a longer detour but dropped back into the field at the bottom to climb over gate to re-join the footpath before veering off for the summit. A bw-topped fence needs to be overcome but there is a wooden fence fort this. Summit on edge looking down at depression with gorse bushes. Onwards on route to Hyde Lea medieval moated site before heading for Stafford Castle....Dazingdale28/04/2018
Parked to the SE and followed where row is shown on the map although no markings on the ground.clivevilla15/12/2017
Parking: Could have probably got a lot closer, but plenty of room at SJ 898 198, wide verge. Route: Hadn't got an OS map but managed to find way to summit as others. Also went to reservoir on Butter Hill, which bizarrely had a caravan parked up next to it.David Evans03/04/2017
A very simple 2 field jobbie. Top field is planted with Rapeseed but plenty of margin. Very decent views although a lot of poly tunnels.stig_nest30/03/2017
As others and it is a much nicer top than the approach would suggest . A lovely bit of water in a little bowl surrounded by gorse- in flower now of course.Mark Sims14/03/2017
Eight short Staffordshire Tump walks today, with drives between. Parked by track junction at SJ89571943. Followed bridleway then field boundary to summit. Also visited nearby Butter Hill just in case (covered reservoir fence is crossable at northern corner).davidpettit8428/01/2017
As for Campbell Singer.arranc23/01/2017
From farm to SE. Round edge of barley field and pond.Campbell Singer11/07/2016

From gate to SE near house/farm, marked as path on map, no signs up to say so though. Edge of pasture curves round to summit which is surprisingly interesting after the drab approach.Aye Jimmy03/04/2016
From fp to east. Two bw fences to cross, but conveniently they have wooden jumps for the hunt.ngthack25/11/2015
