To add to the particular pecularities of this hill, when stood proudly astride the rugged summit, a group of boisterous youngsters were climbing a nearby tree to a branch just slightly higher than where we stood...TK19/03/2024
An easy walk up from New Brighton railway station.suzannerowcliffe17/03/2024
Second day of walking the Wirral coast. First port of call the community garden (gates open) and finding the high point.PhilipChaston20/11/2023
A tour of Gorse Hill, Caldy Hill and Poll Hill (but not Prenton Hill) after Mount Manisty cruise. Pleasantly peaceful in the community greenspace. From Gorsehill Road.summitsup01/09/2023

AS PGCE SAYS, THE GORSE IS OPEN ONCE AGAIN. LOCKED UP AT 4PM IN WINTER.chriswatson24/11/2022
Parked near the entrance to park on Gorsehill Road. Gates open 8:30 to 4 (winter) or 5:30 (summer). Nice park. Visited several likely highpoints.PGCE24/11/2022
A whistlestop motorised tour of Wirral tumps with CW.Smudge22/11/2022
It's on Gorsehill Road, not Gorse Hill Road. As chriswatson says, closed for a few weeks owing to vandalism and it's got a serious fence. I was lucky enough to meet a lady at the gate with a very disappointed looking dog, who put me in touch with the very nice key holder, who showed me round. Her son turned out to be a Munroist and Wainrighteer. I left a donation to help restore the gardens. However - the best bit about the area was visiting the incredible Byzantine-style Roman Catholic church across the road where I sat in awe of the splendour and gave thanks for my relatively blessed little life.Wycombe Wanderer26/10/2022
In the area dropping of a family member. Be rude to ignore this one. Nice and quick summit from the road.Pilotralph 03/08/2022
Pleasant small community park. With Bridget and Fox.catman03/07/2022
Very pleasant. Lovely garden and a bit of fun seeking out the high point candidates. Steep knoll by the badger grotto or boulderfasgadh26/05/2022
What a lovely little community park. Highest point seems to be by large stone. Solo.Dangerous Dave24/04/2022
Easy parking opposite 11 Gorsehill Road & next to the Millennium Garden gates. Visited two areas of banking to the rear of the garden; the one to the right alongside the path and sandstone rock at SJ 30409 93638 looks to highest. First day of spring & a butterfly sunning itself on the rock. (S)gerrybowes01/03/2022
walked from promenade up to Gorse Hill Rd and Millennium ParkLancylass14/12/2020
I used to live a 8 minute walk from here but I never got to the highest point as it was privately owned by NWWA. It became a park in 2000. I revisited the area today and it is a lovely community garden. So I give thanks to the volunteers who run it.Alan Moore26/11/2020
Plentiful parking down Gorse Hill Road. Greeted on leaving car by the man who has overseen the park's transformation from a gorse hill to a brilliantly accessible town park. Easy trails round it, solid underfoot, plenty of seats and litter bins. Path to top misses actual summit by a metre or so but an easy off-piste venture.moorsman05/03/2020
Situated somewhere in the lovely Gorsehill community park. High point hard to pinpoint exactly but probably on a vegetation covered mound surrounded by easily accessible tracks. Watertower nearby is stunning.Easy parking on Gorsehill Road.Argentum6612/02/2020

Ten years ago, this was the first Tump that I visited just because it was a Tump. Back then, I didn't realise that it was possible to leave the road. So when I was back in the area, I came back and did it properly. Rob's gap in the corner has been bricked up, so we need to visit during opening hours. No idea when that would be! Probably whenever Billo gets over the road. He's a good man, and has done a great job there.Pete R17/05/2019
Should be renamed Gorse-less hill thanks to the sterling strimming efforts of the volunteers who look after this lovely micro park. Overtopped by the water tower and dominating dome of St Peter and Pauls church, which can be seen from afar and was nicknamed the Dome from Home by returning mariners.Chris Pearson29/03/2019
6/7 wirrumping with Nwormgage. Bit confusing at first, Grid ref took us way off again. Found scrubby area by Millenium park which is the tiniest park I've ever seen. Actually a nice area, with a very Liverpudlian feel to it. A rewarding enough bag.tumpawumpa03/01/2019
Quite rewarding, sire. Urban sprawl tumping! May I discourage future baggers from navigating with an OS Explorer map in the Wallasey and Birkenhead areas.nwormgage03/01/2019
The copse behind Millennium Park is riddled with paths, allowing an easy bagcarole engel17/11/2018
At back of Gorse Millenium Park. 3 possible HPs all about same height. Two Probably man made.PeterD07/10/2018

In thick gorse towards the back of Gorse Millennium Park whose entrance is in Gorse Hill Road.clivevilla30/11/2017
Nipped into the park and into the wild area at the north side. Some nasty stinging nettles around even in November. Amazing water tower. The Wirrall seems to specialise in these structures. Four Wirrall Tumps completed in just over one hour. On to Liverpool and Manchester.Campbell Singer26/11/2017
Roadside parking, nipped into park and out the back into scrubland. Easy bag.jonglew07/10/2017
Two visits necessary as the gate was locked at 9.30am. I returned later and wandered through park and scrubColin Crawford07/10/2017
Parked next to water tower and walked into the small nice park, a thrash in scubbery beyond ironically the best top of the day on my venture into the Wirral :-(nordicstar22/07/2017
3rd of the 4 Wirral hills today; I climbed Poll hill and Caldy hill from Heswall station and then took a train from Hoylake changing at Birkenhead Noth for New Brighton. I was in no rush so wandered down to the breakwater next to the Lighthouse. As others i found banking now covered in Bluebells about 5m from house. The Water tower looks foreboding! Descent back to New Brighton station.Dazingdale29/04/2017

Having just walked over Bidston Hill, I got the train from Birkenhead North to New Brighton station. A quick five minutes up, a bit longer down to admire the views from the roads as the sun was setting. Last hill on a long day exploring the Wirral Hills. Not having a car, I thought the all lines day ticket for Merseyrail to be great value for £5.Jake99402/12/2016
at rear of park.jimbloomer11/03/2016
Parked in Gorsehill Rd near impressive Water Tower. Through little Millennium Park into copse behind with several bumps. Ivy clad banking with single stone seems as good as anywhere.Aye Jimmy20/01/2016

Good wander round scrubby woodland.Alan Caine11/01/2015
Fairly close above to the NE of Chris Watsons house, where I had stayed the night, New Brighton has it's very own 57m tump by a water tower inside an enclosed area. I wandered into a bit of scrubby woodland behind a small park area to hunt for high ground then noticed a guy coming through a gate on NW side at the back of it and wrongly assumed it was a gate out to another street so I wandered towards it as he came out and he asked quite pleasantly where I was going so I told him I was trying to find Wirral high points. Trevor then took me into his garden which the gate actually came out of and showed me his back lawn, probably couple of feet higher than the woodland and he reckoned the highest point. Also talked about the great view out across the sea to the NW and showed me the view from his front room of the various sandbanks and talked about the row of rocks that were visible at the very lowest spring tides. All fascinating stuff.vegibagger20/07/2014

New Brighton = Gorse Hill, 57 meters, a P52. Could be either of the 2 hillocks behind the Millennium green. Chris Watson's local P30. A few photos on flickr. http://www.flickr.com/photos/79063372@N04/7748138638/in/set-72157630989750070/Dugswell208/08/2012
Not ticked- I drove up and failed to notice the little park. Fortunately I lived in Birkenhead, so it was easy to correct the error. Unfortunately, I moved to Edinburgh before I spotted the error.Pete R04/10/2009
