Started on mill lane in harlington. Followed the tracks through fields then onto canal path over road and upto summit. Very inquisitive horses in adjacent field. Back on other side of canal. 3.8 miles with the kiddiesThe-Z-Man26/03/2023
Parked Buzzard drive, then over gates opposite. Telegraph pole challenge on the summit.Nick Canute26/03/2022
Parked in Buzzard Avenue (opposite pub) to W. Up track and over gate to summit. 3 friendly horses.PGCE15/03/2022
Took the route suggested by others via the track to the SW starting by the side of the pub. Two gates to cross, no horses and no manure pile to speak of. Descended through the gate to the E of the summit, the found a way out of the field through a collapsed gate to the NE which led back down onto the Trans Pennine Trail.Wheelsy23/10/2021

Cycled from Brodsworth Hill to base at N side then walked up to top, covered in manure. Then on to Gawk HillIanHHill22/12/2017
Straightforward walk from the pub opposite Buzzard Avenue. A track, initially concrete then mud, leads directly to the top.moorsman26/09/2017
Route as described by Aye Jimmy. Cold conditions helpd: 'climbed' the mound of manure to reach the pole.RobertP22/01/2017
No horses but manure unfortunately still there...either a lot of horses around here or one extremely big one! Fair amount of rain recently so I definitely wasn't wading through it all, got near enoughthe_adam19/11/2016
Followed track and over gate to summit. Manure and horses still present.Ramblingpaul04/11/2016
From foot path to the north via track past a feasting of blackberries and cling through barbed wire fence. Mega find hall on summitvegibagger23/08/2016
Track by pub led directly to top. The mass of manure was festering nicely. 4 horses in the field to share my last Doncaster UA top.PeterD21/06/2016
As for Dangerous Dave.arranc12/06/2016
Crept up to the summit pile of manure trying not to disturb the horses. Easy bag from the track by the new pub. With Evan, Sail, Danu, Coel & Alfie.Dangerous Dave04/06/2016
A truly s**t top due to the horses.andrew brown29/04/2016
6th hill of six today with Lexi Rue, my partner's Labradoodle on a 20+ mile walk from Sheffield station to Conisbrough station. We climbed Parkwood Springs, Wincobank, Keppel's Column, (through the Wentworth estate) Hoober's Stand and Newhill. NewhillWe walked down to Swinton and joined the canal towpath past Mexborough station. We used the main road that swings round close to a pub and bistro and climbed the track and over the gate and walked upto the summit which still has substantial amounts of horse manure around it. We descended along a fence-line and sneaked under a barbed wire fence to a stile leading to a track and followed this snaking through the woodland circumnavigating the hill (intended route was along the ridgeline but i didnt want to put the dog in danger of the horses that could be seen). We dtipped onto the Trans-pennine trail over new bridge and broke off on a path, terminating at Conisbrough station.Dazingdale12/04/2016
The summit is currently a metre higher due to tons of horsemuck surrounding the pole. At least it had dried out!Campbell Singer25/03/2016
A bright and blustery afternoon walk up from Deneby ings nature reserve...waded through horse s**t to reach the summit pole.steven ruffles01/02/2016
From Doncaster railway station. Coming from the south-east on the TPW. 150m after the new bridge over the R Dearne (worth a visit to see anyway), there is a track up to the left to a chained gate, easily surmounted. Leads on easy grass slopes to the top. Retrace to gateway and follow the south side of the hedge to the previously mentioned stile. No barbed wire. No horses friendly, wild or others.Moorponder11/09/2015
As AJ. Telegraph pole visible from low down. Easy roll under bw fence after stile. Horses kept their distance. Must have got used to Tumpers.ngthack09/09/2015
Ings is an old word of Norse origin referring to water meadows and marshes which is applicable here at a nice stretch of the River Don and Trans Pennine Trail by this landscaped former spoil heap. Had to squeeze under fence to access summit pasture.Chris Pearson13/08/2015
Pasture, views to Conisborough and Mexborough.Adrian13/08/2015
Usual routeBramley19/07/2015
Followed route that Jimmy took. Very quick bag as we were quickly surrounded by horses that scared my boys.bolieve08/04/2015
Parked at Denaby Nature Reserve then an easy amble to the summit with Martin Richardson.Dugswell222/11/2014
Trans Pennine Express - with Sir DouglasMartin R22/11/2014
Good car-park to N of hill at Denaby Nature Reserve. Ignore steps and path which lead along the lake to the birders' hides, walk SSW for 100m along main road over canal to Trans Pennine Trail, at Pastures Road info board. Follow this E, after 200m track leads up hillside to stile into field. Weakness in hedge/barbed wire fence to right leads to open pasture with friendly horses. Rounded summit, high point short distance from old telegraph pole. Surprisingly interesting area.Aye Jimmy30/07/2014
Paddock; ex phone pole a few m to N. From NE, gates & stile, park at start or main Ings car pk nearby.RHW13/04/2012
