From Kempton parking near old phone box. Followed FP uphill into woods then followed track almost to summit, some fallen trees to negotiate to get to HP. Back same way and then on to Clunton HillPeterD08/04/2022
Parked in Hopesay for a circuit of 6 Tumps: Oaker Wood, Short Wood, Lynchgate Hill, Basford Bank, Wart Hill and Hopesay Hill. Approx 14km.PGCE23/12/2021
Delightful walk from Edgeton crossroads where there is room for one. There is a vegetation boundary by the summit. The western mixed woodland side is easy to get through. No need to engage the brambles. Met somebody up there who had some interesting tales to tell of the woodland. I them carried on to the western edge above Kempton for the views and Autumn colours.fasgadh19/11/2021
Summit now marked by fallen tree (top of.) Drizzle all the way from parking at Edgton Cross.KC19/03/2020
Parked alongside the Edgton village hall. Pastures and then very pleasant mixed woodland. Brambly approach to summit. Should have continued down the track for a few metre past the top and then turn right where there are fewer brambles.Campbell Singer22/12/2019
Parked on grass verge at junction SO385856 and followed RoW. nice little hill but no views from the high point its self.heavyhorses24/03/2019
from village hall. Than as for Laura W.arranc20/02/2019
4 of 8 after spending the night in the car at the kangaroo inn pub I was up bright and early to bag oaker wood, Bates barn hill, burrow, short wood, lynchgate hill, Basford bank, wart hill and hopesay hill. 11.7 miles in 5 hours and it didn’t stop raining all dayThe-Z-Man17/04/2018
Parking difficult to the NE. Managed to sqeeze onto the grass immediately after the field entrance across the road from the footpath. Followed the waymarked path across the pasture until the point where a track is shown going through a gate into the woods. It looked impenetrable, but, once over the gate there is, in fact, a track to the summit obstructed by the occasional fallen tree. 3.37km return, 1 hour.moorsman18/05/2017
Third of an excellent circuit of tumps from Hopesay on a beautiful Spring day. From Burrow exited hillfort on the E then descended anti-clockwise to Beeches Hollow, then on farm tracks past Barlow Barn, which seems to be some sort of hunting lodge. Found the sweet chestnut tree (just a sapling) though ground further into the brambles may be as high. Onward to Basford Bank.milimana23/04/2017
Indistinct summit within pine plantation, HP probably at sweet chestnut tree. Ripe wild raspberries. No view. Sound of tits and dripping rain.Denise 28/07/2016
Track to summit area of uninviting brash and brambles in open forest. We settle for the Sweet chestnut on the SW side as the high point. GPS consistently reported height as ~330m, much higher than the 313m on the map.RichardM28/07/2016
Parked near village hall, walked up the road to find farm track. Picked up footpath through the field then into the trees..A little over grown and lots of fallen trees. With stig_nestLaura.W06/05/2016
From n.e. past 250m contour and on to Hazel knap. Followed edge of forest before going up firebreak. Fine until the last few meters at which point its bramble city. With Laura.w. 4th of the day.stig_nest06/05/2016
Parked in Edgton and proceeded up the road and footpath. I skirted the woods to the left which meant I had to go through pathlessd forest to the top although it was not too thick.clivevilla31/08/2015
