Having parked in layby at 716364 on A417 on the way to Mayhill (q.v.) and emerged on FP at The Holts, I headed S to the gateway at 725362. Follow track S then SE at edge of woodland to field, ignoring POI on 170 m contour line. As track leaves field to the E, go S into (flatish) woodland to indistinct summit area. No feature, but but discernable summit. Avoided climbing bwf's and Mayhil muddy tracks by returning to gateway and crossing field diagonally through Woolpits Farm, along lane and footway by A417 back to parking. | henryfm | 13/11/2023 |
I've driven on mountain roads with more 'experience' than these, in a motorhome! | Martin R | 26/05/2023 |
Continued on a circular route after Eastnor Hill & Mayhill. Beautiful day out :) | Gerry the Ranger | 27/01/2022 |
Parked by Eastnor school for a circuit of Eastnor Hill, Mayhill and Woolpits Hill. Mainly on estate tracks; 100s of pheasants. | PGCE | 25/08/2021 |
As close as we can | Toobuddy | 22/08/2020 |
Sunny Walk through woodland and sheep fields from south before cutting back SE up track to summit. | vegibagger | 31/12/2017 |
From Mayhill along Land Rover tracks that were drying out nicely. Up track and just into woods beyond the man made mound. | PeterD | 26/03/2017 |
More Land Rover experience gloopy tracks. Manmade Earth pile higher than natural HP. HP on flattish ridge in trees including yew, on the edge of OS contour ring, we thought.

As we descended south and east we were delighted by yellow swathes of wild daffodils. | Denise | 17/03/2017 |
From Eastnor Hill passing several 4X4 test pieces as well as tracks with gloop filled hollows. Spotted a couple of the beasts lumbering down through the trees. Summit a flattish wooded area with mound of bulldozed soil. The mound although higher than the surrounding ground is not on the high point. | RichardM | 17/03/2017 |
Along the footpath from the SW. Climbed a fence and then steeply up pasture into the woods. High point either on the soil heap or by a tree just beyond it. | Herbert Anchovy | 01/02/2017 |
Eastnor Hill, Mayhill and Woolpits Hill in a big loop from Eastnor Church.Terrain beyond the gateway looks a little higher so I stomped around the possible spots. | clivevilla | 23/06/2016 |
3rd of 3 from Eastnor church, after Mayhill. Today's Landrover Experience involved walking or avoiding a lot of muddy 4x4 tracks. The day after they stopped making the Landrover Defender. Woodland summit just beyond a heap of soil | RHW | 30/01/2016 |
From Eastnor Castle CP. On road and tracks to HP in field. Landrover Experience! | arranc | 18/12/2015 |
Second of 3 from Ledbury. Easy approach from north through elaborate 4WD obstacle course. | milimana | 26/04/2015 |
On a round of 7 tumps parking at the Holybush quarry car park, this was number 5. Approached from N following forest vehicle tracks from Mayhill - lots and lots of thick glutenous mud around. Awkward trying to identify the HP due to some man-made mounds. HP seemed to be some 40-50 SW of the OS spot height position. | jonglew | 28/02/2015 |
