From good parking next to Hartpury Church (with impressive tithe barn opposite and unusual apiary in the churchyard). Up the lane and found the same gap in hedge in fence as others. Agree that summit area pretty flat - and that it's probably better tackled earlier in the year before the nettles and brambles become a nuisance. Then on to Catsbury Hill. | milimana | 24/06/2023 |
Parked in gateway to S, by horse-riding sign. Easily up through woodland to summit. Quick up and down. | PGCE | 20/02/2022 |
Summit area is relatively level, so abney used to identify HP. Pines recently thinned and there are neat piles of logs and brash. Approached through open woodland up S ridge, accessed through break in fence on road just west of Limbury farm buildings. | Denise | 30/12/2020 |
From where S corner of forest meets lane, easily through hedge and gap in fence into managed woodland. Various muddy tracks reach the large levelish summit plateau with log piles from extensive recent thinning. | RichardM | 30/12/2020 |
Parked as arranc in gateway. Very straightforward. No need this time of year for secateurs. | Campbell Singer | 20/11/2018 |
From gate to WSW. Only the very last bit was brambly/nettly. | clivevilla | 24/05/2018 |
First of a cycle assisted round of 3 from Hartpury E.C. Left bike at gate to west. Straight up hill to summit track. | Minto | 07/04/2018 |
Parked on lane by field entrance. Convenient path and track led through woods to top. Very overgrown with nettles and brambles. | Ramblingpaul | 20/06/2017 |
Dusk wander up the sw side of the hill with some low level bramble. | vegibagger | 02/04/2016 |
From wsw, gate, straight up avoiding a few brambles. Started down main track but muddy due to horses so shortcut down. Summit flat with moderate bramble cover. | RHW | 21/02/2016 |
Not as bad as imagined it might be. parked by road. Over gate which led to a track in the wood, followed it to the top a zig but not quite a zag. Top appeared to be just off track to the right in the undergrowth. | PeterD | 23/05/2015 |
Parked by gate at 77528 25264. Secateurs needed to get through undergrowth. Some paths. Primrose. | arranc | 27/02/2015 |
Parked roadside in Limbury. Tracks marked on OS 1:25k map are viable once in wooded area, but access to them awkward - over field gate at SO 77728 25002, across 2 horse paddocks then force a way through thorn and bramble. Flat-topped hill; HP not obvious. | jonglew | 05/02/2015 |
Found a muddy spot to park on the road to the west and then a short but steep climb through the woods. I took a direct route but there seems to be a track which gets to the top in a more long winded fashion. Once again it wasn't altogether clear where the top was as the woodland floor was covered in brambles. I think somewhere to the right of the track and a wade through brambles is required to get there. | Herbert Anchovy | 04/02/2015 |
