Managed by Worcestershire Wildlife Trust a small plantation woodland planted in the 1950s with black, Scots and lodgepole pines, larch, chestnut, oak, beech and Douglas fir. Not obvious but the land here was formed by a glacial terminal moraine in the last ice age and forms part of the wooded skyline surrounding the upper Arrow valley around Alvechurch. Now part of Birmingham's greenbelt the adjacent linear village of Rowney Green, although a commuter village values its rural peacefulness and the fact that its road is not a shortcut or through route to somewhere else. It community spirit is boosted by the village hall which becomes a one day a week pub (Goat and Trousers!). Residents are encouraged to walk the 1 mile fp over this hill and back to Alvechurch for shops and services rather than drive the 3 miles round -although wellies and a tolerance to carry your shopping uphill on the return journey required.Chris Pearson13/12/2021
Parked on side road and followed easy path to top. Alpacas out in force.Bramley26/10/2021

Parked in side road (Newbourne Hill) in Rowney Green. ROW to summit grid ref, all on a good path. No alpacas today.PGCE19/01/2021
Parked roadside (SP 0435 7165). Walked NW on RoW until the ground began to drop off, then wandered around the playing fields until it got too muddy, then backto the car, still none the wiser.jonglew16/12/2020

5th top of 8 on a predominantly Worcestershire car tumping route, visiting Swines Hill, Rous Lench Hill, Moreton Hill and South Crest, then stopping at an M&S service station to drink and eat before continuing. I parked up in the village and took fp into the Woods, exploring either side of the track, one side in brambles looked marginally higher but looked like unnaturally distubed ground caused by dumping and the other some spaced out conifers with Alpacas further back. I recorded 178m at Mound near track @ SP 04169 71781, 177m near track in brambles @ SP 04121 71785 but it is all very level. Back to the car and onwards to Moorgreen Hill....Dazingdale26/01/2019

Up the ROW from the middle of village.vegibagger07/01/2018
Easy bag on ROW from Rowney Green. On the edge of familiar country for walking round Weatheroak but our first visit to this HP. My companion, Pete, had put in much more effort cycling on the hilly lanes up to the village 6 m, below the HP, over the years.pwheeler30/12/2017
Parked at village hall, short way SW is start of track into wood. Nature Reserve sign is at the first junction of paths, think it must have been moved from original position. Very muddy path W for 70m past the alpacas to alternative hp.Aye Jimmy09/11/2017

Had hoped the nature reserve might provide some interest for this easy bag but even that was nothing special today.milimana08/08/2015
