On visit to the Manormaclrc17/09/2021
Area all very disturbed with covered reservoir, authentic looking grottos and service tunnel for something. Wooded. Ascent is almost encouraged from the lawn on the NW side of the Manor and reaching the top of the reservoir straight forward. Any natural high point is hard to determine. Several other mounds and ridges to investigate but none seem particularly any more natural or higher. Nice gardens and unusual Manor house.RichardM08/09/2021
Jobsworths. Today was another National Trust Waddesdon Manor. House open till 4.gardens open till 5. Didn't want house. Just gardens to bag the hill. Arrived 4.15. Mrs Jobsworth says 'Sorry were closed. Last entry to garden was 4pm.we need pre-booked entries before 4pm. The system won't allow me to book you in now.' 'But you're not closed till 5 and I only want half an hour. There's 40/45 mins left' 'Sorry can't do it. Computer says NO' 'What about flexible pragmatism and over-riding rigid inflexible systems. I've come a long way. Here's my NTS card. Just want half an hour in the garden.' 'Sigh, Okay you can go and park up, but you can only be in the lower gardens' Didn't know what she meant by this, but as expected once parked I could walk the tracks and roads of the estate, without challenge, hindrance or problem, right up to the formal gardens at the back, west of the house where the aviary and High point is. Incorporated into a walk around the gardens while visiting the House with my girlfriend, Lesley and my mum. Visited the mound immediately behind the aviary although appears somewhat unnatural, a lower mound and more natural in appearance was visited nearby. I also visited the mounds near the house. Lovely house and gardens and thoroughly recommended. Of course being NT members really helps!Dazingdale28/04/2019
Nobody around. Hence able to drive to point about 150m north of top and park for 10 mins.GordonAdshead15/02/2019
Christmas Carnival. Beautiful light show in the early evening. Manor well worth visiting.Barbara Singer29/11/2018
Walked from the village.Aye Jimmy09/09/2018
Paid for gardens and house visit. The house was on a standby, half price basis, as there were still spaces for the 3 pm visit. Sneaked up candidates for the Tump, two heavily wooded. The house was fascinating but the highlight for me was the aviary; meet the keeper at 2 pm is worthwhile- he's knowledgeable and takes mealworms so it's more easy to see the birds, some of which are extinct in the wild. A most enjoyable afternoon and all the Vale of Aylesbury Tumps now bagged.pwheeler24/08/2018
Approach from the north, via the aviary and descent by the south ridge. In some ways, the most spectacular Tump I've climbed. I imagine France to be something like this.Wycombe Wanderer21/07/2018
My first with a free bus ride to the summit area!arranc30/06/2018
With NS. Paid the £10 entry to the gardens. Beautiful place. Poor planning led to the beginners mistake of finding the OS spot height, then I realised my error and went back for the true summit.Owen B22/04/2018
Parked in Baker St, Waddesdon, made famous by Gerry Rafferty. Took fp into the manor grounds where a Xmas event was taking place. Explained my mission to the cp attendant and he gave me a wrist band gratis. Walked up towards house where another helpful NT volunteer advised me as to the route to the aviary. What a house! Loadsa money.Campbell Singer09/12/2017
Took public footpath from Wassenden into grounds, thought I may have issues when I realised everyone had colour wrist bands on. No issues mingling into the crowds on a busy summer afternoon.rhalstead17/06/2017
Wow- quite a house! No access issues walking up through grounds -and right up to the house using public fp from Wassenden. Then onto mound behind aviary - fascinating exotic collection of birds- info boards explaining role in conservation and breeding and release for threatened species. The Rothschild's Mynah (aka Bali Starling) world population fell to just 6 birds in 2001.Chris Pearson02/10/2016

In NT property, open Wednesday to Sunday, very busy, glad of membership. Resisted bus to manor house. Nice grounds. HP behind aviary and not spot height as marked on maps. Got some strange looks as I disappeared into trees to appear a little while later. Wasn't expecting to see a Rothschild Mynah Bird today.PeterD31/03/2016
HP at covered resr N side of a very ornate aviary. Gardens should have been opened but were closed today so saved £10 by parking in village and gate crashing via one of the FP's and just wandered about the place; didn't see a soul.jonglew10/03/2016
Summit visited during an orienteering event in the grounds of the house.JohnW20/02/2016
Highest point is in the trees behind the aviary although this may be man made as includes what appears to be a reservoir and the rocks making a grotto seat on the house side are not natural. Well worth a visit as grounds are beautiful. Helps if you are an NT member it will be expensive bag if you aren't. Shame the house has closed for winter. i'll have to go back in summer to look round.Swindon Bagger16/01/2016
Waddesdon to Whitchurch. Rocky mound containing reservoirs behind the aviary overtops the manicured grounds by several feet.Smudge25/10/2015
some contrast to the normal summit as this is in the manicured grounds of the National Trust property.trimarc227/08/2015
