Agree the summit mound did have a passing resemblance to a tumulus. A brick structure, arched roof partially exposed in field. Probably an old resevoir | cjo | 17/12/2023 |
Westcott to Haddenham. NE approach. | Smudge | 27/01/2023 |
Parked on road by Dorton Hill Farm, then over fence & into field immediately S of the one containing the HP. Through open gate & up to the HP, which from some angles looked like a tumulus. 10 mins in total. | DanMaisieBex | 19/09/2022 |
From road at NE corner of field. Pasture with inquisitive and frisky bullocks. Summit rise with trees on S side of field. Reasonable farmland views. Last of a hot day cycling in sunshine and 30deg.C | RichardM | 08/09/2021 |
Parked to NE: space for a car at the entrance to a buried reservoir. S along road then over wooden rails into summit field. | PGCE | 17/01/2021 |
Bike and walks: Haddenham station - Burn Hill - Waddesdon Hill - Lodge Hill - Ashendon Hill - Dorton Hill - North Hill - Muswell Hill - Arncott Hill - Graven Hill - Bicester Village station. | Mark Jackson | 12/09/2020 |
Bit uncertain where the summit was for this...but I walked around it enough to have found it! | Sockpan | 30/09/2019 |
4th hill of 8 on a 36km traverse from Stone to Bicester, climbing Burn Hill, Waddesdon Hill and Ashendon, taking the overgrown fp Sw over a dismantled railway and then NW into Dorton then South on the road before using copse next to road to access gate and climb to the top. I recorded 152m @ SP 68017 12778. I had my lunch nearby. Nice views. Continuing West then Sw and Nw for Brill village and North Hill... | Dazingdale | 06/07/2019 |
From the road found a sort of track through chest high nettles to a fence and on up the field to the trees at the top | ChinnockC | 19/05/2019 |
Short walk from the NE as clivevilla. Saw a white pheasant near the top and then met a very angry gamekeeper on the way down. | Herbert Anchovy | 21/11/2018 |
With NS. From Brill. RoW to Spa Farm, then farm track, then RoW SSW. Could find no way through double barbed wire fences and a thick thorny hedge so returned to the track, then along the road, then a very quick bag from near the high point of the road. Pheasants in abundance, and a shy grey squirrel. Then a circuitous walk back to Brill via Dorton, over the railway, Dorton Grange, WSW past Rid's Hill. | Owen B | 14/10/2018 |
As Chris Pearson, seemed quiet around farm so nipped over gate and round into field. Summit mound in copse of four trees. | Aye Jimmy | 25/08/2018 |
From the ne corner of the field. Road sufficiently wide for parking. Pasture. Incredible viewpoint for a little hill. | Campbell Singer | 09/12/2017 |
From NE over bw-topped wooden fence like most. | pwheeler | 24/11/2017 |
From NE over bw-topped wooden fence. | clivevilla | 13/08/2017 |
Nobody at farm buildings so over the gate and up. Should you get your car stuck on the soft verge and need pulling out, you could do worse than ask around for the help of the local 'Dorton Dons' - national tug of war champions in 1960/70s . Maybe they would come out of retirement in a crisis? The concrete barrel they hauled up a tree for practice apparently still sits in the river below the very tree in Dorton. | Chris Pearson | 02/10/2016 |
