Dunham Lodge has 2 claims to fame being the highest house in flat and low Norfolk, and once lived in by William Cowper, a 18C poet who wrote about nature and everyday things. Wordsworth was a fan. Cowper was against slavery and wrote the Negro’s Complaint, which became famous when Martin Luther King began to quote it frequently. In 1830 the owner of Dunham Lodge ( a notable surgeon Charles Mansfield Clarke) was made Baronet of Dunham Lodge. - a baronet being minor nobility - officially still a commoner, but called Sir and a heredity title. The current heir- to the Barronetcy- Lawrence Clarke - is no slouch, having come 4th in the 110m hurdles for GB in the London 2012 Olympics. I wonder if he practiced sprinting up and down the long driveway of his anaestoral home - which passes for training at altitude in Norfolk. | Chris Pearson | 22/04/2019 |

After visiting Oxburgh Hall with Lesley and mmy mum (gardens and grounds only due to fallen masonry)i took the opportunity to visit this 1st of three Norfolk tumps, parking in the village and taking the public track to the summit. Like others i failed to get the stated gps reading. My gps read 88m and i ventured off to explore other minor bumps but no higher reading was recorded. Beautiful cottage at the start of the walk with its pebble cladding. | Dazingdale | 07/04/2018 |
Ample parking next to village hall. Excellent track from the west. | Campbell Singer | 16/03/2018 |
Followed right of way across estate track to splendid oak which we decided was the HP in otherwise flat grass. Estate house looked shut up; apparently owned by Albanwise. Parked by Little Dunham Village Hall. | Denise | 09/12/2017 |
Easy parking in Little Dunham then walk along track to estate parkland summit. Fortuitously the RoW all but crosses the high point. | RichardM | 09/12/2017 |

Little Fransham to Necton. Abreviated expedition after 3 hour delay from overunning engineering. | Smudge | 07/02/2016 |
As per GA. HP seemed to be on the RoW a lttle before the Lodge, could only get 90m out of the GPS though. | jonglew | 24/01/2016 |
