Round of 7 hills from Durisdeer with GN. Easy walking and very enjoyable | trimarc2 | 07/03/2024 |
7 Donalds & 2 Donald Tops from Kirkhope Cleuch - Comb Law, Rodger Law, Ballencleuch Law, Scaw'd Law, Glenleith Law, Wedder Law, Gana Hill, Earncraig Hill, Penbreck & Queensberry. Very wet underfoot return over the Lamb Hill ridge. 19.5 miles | Gary Heath | 06/03/2024 |
From Durisdeer for a round of Glenleith Fell, Wedder Law, Scaw'd Law, Ballencleuch Law, Rodger Law, Comb Law and Meikle Shag. | rhalstead | 26/08/2023 |
Circuit from Kirkhope of Rodger, Ballencleuch & Scaw'd Laws, Glenleith Fell, Wedder Law & Sheil Dod. Pretty easy going except for descent along the Carsehope Burn, which was a bit rough. There were a lot of vehicles on Gana Hill, presumably out for a shoot. | sclater | 25/08/2023 |
2 of 4: From Scaw'd Law. With Karen. | ChrisR | 23/05/2023 |
The Google Maps suggested route to Durisdeer was awful, this is the route via the ford, it wasn't the ford but the huge potholes that were the problem. Would suggest taking the longer route. Followed tracks the whole way up to Glenleith Fell, Wedder Law and back the same way to Scaw'd Law. Then a pleasant walk to Ballencleuch Law and Rodger Law. Long trek through boggy and peaty ground to Comb Law which was pleasant enough once you got up there. Followed Kirkstane Grain down to Sheepfold, waded across the stream (boots just about dry though) and then took the Roman Road (very pleasant) back to Durisdeer. Didn't see a single person all day. | tsharp | 10/05/2023 |
From Durisdeer.

Dense mist, high winds and heavy rain for the majority of the walk, but on the whole the going was alright enough and these are some really quite delightful hills around here. | Alex C | 30/10/2022 |
From Rodger Law. Solo. | Dangerous Dave | 17/10/2022 |
Started from Kirkhopecleugh at Daer. Comb Law, Rodger Law, Ballencleuch, Scaw'd Law, Wedder Law, Gana Hill and Earncraig Hill before dropping to Daer Head and the long walk back along the track (15 miles) | jigglybones | 16/10/2022 |
Parked at the end of the forest on the Daer Reservoir road, following a grass track along the forest line to a wall and fence that climbs to Comb Law. An ATV track aids continuation to Hirstane Rig and Rodger Law. Over to Ballencleuch Law then fence/wall line to Scaw'd Law. Once down the south flank a stone track heads up to Glenleith Fell and Wedder Law and Shiel Dod. The track continues to Daer Water and the Reservoir road. 4.5hrs. | summitter | 08/04/2022 |
Daer Reservoir Donalds, parking at Kirkhope Cleuch around midday on Saturday 2nd April, I headed up Coomb Law (645m, Donald), then around to Rodger Law (688m, Donald Top) & along to Ballencleuch Law (689m, Donald & Graham). Then Scaw’d Law (663m, Donald), some heather bashing to get ‘directly’ to Glenleith Fell (612m, Donald Top), followed by a track to top of the Glenleith Burn & up to Wedder Law (672m, Donald), I carried on to Gana Hill (668m, Donald) and down to the Burleywhag Bothy, where I camped & chatted with 3 guys who already had the fire going inside. Sunday 3rd April, late / lazy start, up to Queensberry (697m, Donald & Graham), then via Penbreck & some peat hags to Earncriag Hill (611m, Donald). The plan was to follow the north ridge, over Lamb Hill & Over Law to Crookburn Farm, but I got feed up with the peat hags & descended west to ford the Daer Water and join the track to Kirkhope then the public road back to the car for 16:00. Great trip. | chillyman8 | 02/04/2022 |

Parked at Durisdeer and followed the track up to the top the on to Scaw’d Law then Ballencleuch returning the same way | Fellhugger | 16/09/2021 |
Parking for a couple of cars beside Daer Reservoir, at corner of forestry just before Kirkhope Cleuch cottage (966 073). More parking nearer the dam if needed. Straight up to Watchman’s Brae, then Rodger Law, Ballencleuch Law, Scaw’d Law, (missed Glenleith Fell!), Wedder Law, Shiel Dod, before descending on a rough track all the way back to the reservoir and the car. A pair of massive black ravens soared overhead. | Toby-and-Dion | 04/09/2021 |
Small cairn near fence on rough grass, accessed by quad track from Rodger Law. Superb wild views of grassy ridges. Sleet and baaing lambs. | Denise | 02/05/2021 |
With Well Hill, from rough layby off A205 near phone masts. Up Roman road. Sunny, mostly, but serious windchill and a tiny bit of hail. Occasionally warm in sun. | Rounsfell | 29/04/2021 |

Parked at the church in Durisdeer and followed tracks to Webber Law, Glenleith Law and Scawd Law before the route continuing on to Ballencleuch Law, Rodger Law and Comb Law, extending the route to also take in Meikle Shag and returning to the car via the Well Path. Sixteen and half mile in just under Seven hours. | WAYNE ROWLETT | 13/10/2020 |
Solo. From near the end of the road to Kirkhope. After ascending Rodger Law followed ATV to Ballencleuch Law. Continued to Comb Law. Fine day. | pwbellarby | 15/09/2020 |
Parked (11:50) at 925085 - plenty of space - and followed footpath S over ford (easy) and the track up the valley. There is a wooden bridge at about 921057 about 250m beyond the prominent sheepfold. I followed the valley ESE, keeping near the stream till past the heather then direct up to the top (13:50). Then followed fence SW and skirted Scaw'd Law and Durisdeer on faint tracks. Steeply down to the pass and steeply up to Well Hill (15:40). Followed the summit ridge and the NE ridge back down to the valley. Finished 16:30. Weather dry and warm with good views of the Lowthers and beyond. | dbb | 19/08/2020 |
From Comb Law and Rodger Law. South west to Scaw'd Law. | bolton | 14/07/2020 |
Fence followed from Scaw'd Law to this peak. Good to feel crunch of snow underfoot. Sarnie time at summit. Clouds lifted a bit so got a view only to see next shower cloud heading my way. Company: Solo | iandesbottes | 18/01/2020 |
A circuit from a good parking place immediately E of Troloss entrance. Along the track to the hut W of and below Hirstane Rig. ATV track leads to a poor river crossing but there's an easier crossing upstream at a small island below a sheepfold. ATV track from the sheepfold leads towards Hirstane Rig and decent faint paths up to Ballencleuch Law. Easy ATV tracks thereafter to circle round over Scaw'd Law and Durisdeer Hill to the pass, then easy, steep grass to Well Hill. Round to Caplaw Rig where an ATV track of sorts leads down to the plantation E of Troloss. | Gill | 18/01/2020 |
From Rodger Law. Down shoulder N of Gana Burn on easy grass to folds, then back to the car near Troloss. | Moorponder | 12/10/2019 |

Fittingly from Durisdeer war memorial taking well made track up to just short of Glenleith Fell. Returned to track and followed to very near to Wedder Law before returning same way avoiding wet ground and angling up to Scaw'd Law from gate. Followed ridge to Ballencleuch Law with two minute stop at 11:00, then on to Rodger Law on ATV track. Bit of cross country from there to Comb Law descending to Meikle Shag and then over very wet ground to take the old Roman Road back to Durisdeer. The fort is very impressive. | SS | 11/11/2017 |

First of the day (sunny but cool breeze). Recommended by shepherd to stick up high rather than stay low along the glen. | Play2End | 22/04/2017 |
Took Mark Trengove's route to Shield Dod over Ewe Gair. Then Wedder Law, Glenleith Fell, Scaw'd Law North and South tops, Ballencleuch Law, Rodger Law, Comb Law and back to the road through Marshwiggle Territory where the Kirkhope Burn meanders. | Nick Down1 | 17/12/2016 |

Circuit from Daer Reservoir. | Grinner | 30/10/2016 |
Hitteril Hill - Comb Law - Ballencleuch Law - Scaw'd Law - Wedder Law - Gana Hill - Earncraig Hill from N end of Daer Reservoir. Started W along Southern Upland Way for nearly 1km then S/SE along track and rough climb up felled forestry to climb Hitteril Hill. Descent W finding gap through forestry, easier underfoot for rest of route. Overnight camp just beyond Comb Law | RobertP | 18/09/2016 |
Durisdeer, Wedder Law, Scaw'd Law on to Rodger Law. | Flatfield | 10/09/2016 |
