A justifiably popular tor with some great scrambling on rough granite and fine views. The SW tower is the lowest of the 3 potential high points. I thought the NE tower was slightly higher than the outcropping rock NE of the memorial plaque but there wasn't a lot in it.RichardM25/08/2018
A second visit. With L and Darren scrambling up the many tors incl the summit tor with its shapely scoop seat . Archaeologists have found one of the few Neolithic ( Stone Age) Tor Enclosures on the summit -with evidence found of wooden buildings with garden plots as farming developed. From the Bronze Age hut circles, standing stones, and burial mounds abound; and in Medieval times room was found for a chapel on the summit as well as extensive field systems around the hill, superimposed on top of those of the Bronze Age. TimeTeam were not far behind. The summit memorial is to 43rd Wessex Divison who lost 2000 men and 7000 wounded in the battle for strategic Hill 112 near Caen against dug in German positions and Tiger and Panther tanks, whose armour could not be penetrated by the British tanks. There is also a monument there today as well as here.Chris Pearson21/08/2018

A fun scramble to the top of the separate tor, but then decided that the larger area with WW2 memorial might be of similar height. One feels aware of the centuries of human use of this Tor.Denise 25/05/2018
