Walk in from the car park. We took the short cut route. We headed up the western tower first. The base of the rocks was a bit of a minefield but it was easy enough to get to the summit. We then headed up the eastern tower. Halfway up Amelia decided it was a bit exposed so I headed up alone. Was a better summit than the western summit. No idea which one was higher impossible to tell with any accuracy.isabelle08/07/2023
Good news! In 2019 Ausewell Wood was purchased by The Woodland Trust so it's no longer private. The car park is at SX 738 722.Matt06/07/2021
From SX 7410 7169. Took a direct line to the rocks - 2 towers, not of the usual Dartmoor type. A little scrambly, but the real test was negotiating the boulder-strewn approach that was heavily 'brackenated' - an ankle twister if not very careful. Unsure which of the 2 towers was higher, visited both tops.jonglew26/06/2018
Car parked at 742717. Through gate. Broad track leads to thinner path and heads north around a cairn followed by the western rock tower.Moorponder24/06/2018
Apparently well used private woodland paths. ( Fountains Forestry) .There are two rock outcrops of similar height within the mixed woodland and low undergrowth. ( beware hidden rocks,) We scrambled up both- easy and fun. Western one is slightly higher , we thought , though eastern one greater in mass. Parked near gate on east side in centre of woods.Denise 12/03/2018
From Ausewell Cross where there is parking for one car beside the woodland access gate. Forest track to base of rocks then clamber over heathery clitter to the rock towers, both pleasant short easy scrambles. The Western one is the higher.RichardM12/03/2018
Parking at the north of the forest where a series of tracks start (just beyond the road junction). Easily navigable gate, turning left after 100m or so until the end of the forest track. From here the fun starts ............... only 200m to the summit, but entirely dense gorse, bracken and brambles. Have fun!moorsman19/06/2016
From NE, thru private plantation to large deep-heather clearing with two rough tors: the easternmost is larger and higher, a blocky scramble - mind the gaps. The 325m spot appears to be on W-most - anyway I visited both. No GPS this weekend.RHW12/04/2014
