Destination for a 2 hour, 12 km hilly run on a rare sunny day following country lanes from cottage west of Chagford and back, accompanied by Flook who loved trotting along. Summit is a lone 6ft high boulder in field, easily climbed by all 6 legs ( me and the dog). The 95 mile Devon Way cycle route which encircles Dartmoor comes along the crest of the hill. The lane is quiet but on the steep hill climb up potholed, streaming with water and covered in gravel - not ideal on a bike. There is an ancient cist ( buriel chamber) of 3 exposed stones close by which has attracted 11 baggers of ancient sites (and 15 photos) on megalithic.co.uk. - kindred baggers.of the obscure.Chris Pearson05/04/2018
