7th visit -on our usual lovely 3 hr coastal loop from the door in Kingswear. Many steep ups and downs on the coastal path then much flatter and more direct on the inland return. Came up from the coast through the lovely gardens of NT Coleton Fishacre. | Chris Pearson | 16/03/2024 |
Usual 3 hr circuit from the house. Windy today - but kept dry. | Chris Pearson | 13/03/2024 |
regular morning coastal walk with L, including another good haul of sea glass from our favourite cove at low tide (+2 footballs in a net -probably used by fishermen as a float). Breezy and showery today. | Chris Pearson | 09/03/2024 |
Becoming a regular walk for us during our 3+ weeks cat sitting at Kingswear. Beautiful sunny warm Spring day for a sheltered coastal walk above a sparkling sea with no one around. Mediterranean- like today -living up to its English Riviera tag! Coastal path out past Froward CG, with a good look at The Mew Stone. Inland return over summit and f'paths. | Chris Pearson | 06/03/2024 |
Back again with L exploring the local footpaths from Kingswear. Avoiding Olympic sized puddles the best we could and dodging heavy showers on a fresh spring morning. Lovely as ever to be above the sea. | Chris Pearson | 01/03/2024 |
Repeat visit. Morning coastal walk with L from cat sit in Kingswear. One heck of a big climb up a million steps, or so it seemed. Nice welcome chat in National Coastguard Watch (heated)hut and a peer through their telescope at some lobster fisherman dropping cages. Inland return from summit down slippery smooth rocky path running with water. Mild and bird song and smelt fresh. | Chris Pearson | 29/02/2024 |
The start of a circular walk to Kingswear. | summitter | 11/01/2023 |
Little more than a walk from the car park down a bridleway for a bit and back along the road. | vegibagger | 17/12/2017 |
NT car park. Bank is highest but also went to verge of road through the stone gates. | PeterD | 12/12/2017 |
Visited after a day at NT Coleton Fishacre which was splendid. Highest point on the bank I thought but obviously man made. Could be in field next to the car park? | Herbert Anchovy | 25/08/2017 |
Summit car parking then circular coastal walk with many ups and downs in hot sunshine. Lengthy halt on Scabbacombe Sands (pebbles everywhere - nudists at far end!) for a paddle and Finn the Pointer to swim out to retrieve sticks (and my hat) . Friendly welcome at voluntary coastguard watch at Fowrard Head and the WWII gun battery , which could fire 14 miles and could protect the approach to Slapton Sands - a feared likely spot for Hitler's invasion of Britain in Operation Sealion - which thankfully never came about as German supremacy of the sea and air was not achieved which had been one of his preconditions. | Chris Pearson | 16/06/2017 |
Summit by pine SE corner of car park, or thereabouts! | RHW | 09/07/2016 |
Here for the trig day marker. | jonglew | 09/07/2016 |
The most natural high point feels to be the road close to the lone pine just SW of the stone gate pillars. Grassy bank in the car park is higher. Sadly the car park pine tree has toppled and the remains are being removed. Bright sunshine, cloudless skies but a cold NE wind. Pleasent walk up from Kingswear. | RichardM | 16/03/2016 |
Combined with a visit to National Trust property Coleton Fishacre. The car park is there for those wishing to d a circular walk on National Trust stretch of coastline. | ijpowell | 26/07/2015 |
Easy parking. Summit could be anywhere so had a good wander around. Tower well worth a visit. | destaylor | 13/06/2015 |
Parked at this point to walk to Day Beacon. | Dusty | 22/05/2011 |
