7 Donalds & 2 Donald Tops from Kirkhope Cleuch - Comb Law, Rodger Law, Ballencleuch Law, Scaw'd Law, Glenleith Law, Wedder Law, Gana Hill, Earncraig Hill, Penbreck & Queensberry. Very wet underfoot return over the Lamb Hill ridge. 19.5 milesGary Heath06/03/2024
Last top of these three middle Humps visited on a walk over from Daer Reservoir to Burleywhag bothy. Clear, calm but grey conditions on top and a good midweek day to be out and about on quiet Simm summits. All that remained was a straightforward descent down to the bothy and the weather doing well to keep holding out for me, just about.Alex C19/02/2024
From Burleywhag bothy, quite a bit of snow higher upColin Crawford30/01/2024
Good parking midpoint between Mitchellslacks and Locherben. From the former we followed the ROW through the farm then ATV route to Nether Dodd and on to The Law. Rougher going to Wee Queensberry and Queensberry, but still stretches of ATV route to help the ascents. Similar terrain over to Penbreck then followed the fence line to Capel Yetts then up to Earncraig Hill. More fence following to Gana Hill before the long stone track back to the van via Hard Hill and Locherben.summitter16/10/2023
Repeat ascent. Circuit from Mitchellslacks: The Law, Queensberry, Penbreck, Earncraig Hill, Gana Hill.vuirich15/10/2023

Started from Kirkhopecleugh at Daer. Comb Law, Rodger Law, Ballencleuch, Scaw'd Law, Wedder Law, Gana Hill and Earncraig Hill before dropping to Daer Head and the long walk back along the track (15 miles)jigglybones16/10/2022
From good parking between Mitchel stacks and Locherban cottage. Five hill round, The Law, Queensberry, Penbreck, Earnscraig Hill and Gana Hill. Descended along Gana Shank ATV track to Locherban cottage and back to car.Longwojo06/10/2022

With J from Mitchellslacks on bright day. Parked at RoW signs & then over bridge near farm. Lot of new-ish signs about parking & no entry due to lambing. Turned R immediately after the bridge, passed just to L of Mitchellslacks cottage on right of way for Beattock (& therefore ignored sign plonked on that) & worked way round outside of farm perimeter walls. Perhaps farm should take different approach to walkers by directing them this way. This lands at junction of tracks in SMC book route which is misleading. We skipped Wee Q & therefore took lower track which peters out near steep ravine. So up field to meet upper track. About 300m short of New House, ATV track leads R steeply at first to Queensberry. Continued on small path over Penbreck following fences & recent fell race signs to Earncraig Hill. Descent due S picks up useful ATV track to Burleywhag bothy. Followed upper track back to start. Skylarks & meadow pipits everywhere & heron flying up burn to Burleywhag.NotReallyABagger29/05/2022
Circuit from Kinnelhead via Lochanhead to Queensberry, Penbreck, Earncraig Hill, Mid Height and Harestanes Hill with return via Blairmack.RobB27/05/2022
Daer Reservoir Donalds, parking at Kirkhope Cleuch around midday on Saturday 2nd April, I headed up Coomb Law (645m, Donald), then around to Rodger Law (688m, Donald Top) & along to Ballencleuch Law (689m, Donald & Graham). Then Scaw’d Law (663m, Donald), some heather bashing to get ‘directly’ to Glenleith Fell (612m, Donald Top), followed by a track to top of the Glenleith Burn & up to Wedder Law (672m, Donald), I carried on to Gana Hill (668m, Donald) and down to the Burleywhag Bothy, where I camped & chatted with 3 guys who already had the fire going inside. Sunday 3rd April, late / lazy start, up to Queensberry (697m, Donald & Graham), then via Penbreck & some peat hags to Earncriag Hill (611m, Donald). The plan was to follow the north ridge, over Lamb Hill & Over Law to Crookburn Farm, but I got feed up with the peat hags & descended west to ford the Daer Water and join the track to Kirkhope then the public road back to the car for 16:00. Great trip.chillyman803/04/2022

small cairn between grass and fence on tussocky sheep pasture with wild views. Onto Mid Height.Denise 02/05/2021
ACW round of Wee Queensberry, Queensberry, Penbreck, Earncraig Hill and Gana Hill from Mitchellslacks, walking outside the east side of the intake walls to avoid disturbing lambing ewes, making heavy weather of finding a good line to Wee Queensberry, over its twin summits and on without further incident until traversing from the gravelled track down Gana Hill to cross the wooden bridge over the Capel Burn to Mitchellslacks. I made the mistake of cutting down from the first bend in the track rather round the second, my penance being to pick my way down a steep and very narrow grassy arete to the bridge.Nick Down124/04/2021
Lockdown revisit from Kirkhope via Ballencleuch Law, Wedder Law & Gana Hill. Steep pull up in hot sunshine after slightly confusing terrain at Daer Hass. Back down to car via Lamb Hill & s4 Nether Law, over much swampier ground.agentmancuso03/04/2021
Roadside verge parking at track to Crookburn Farm (NS 9637 0563). Through Crookburn, Over Law, Lamb Hill then up to here. On to Gana Hill -> Wedder Law -> Shiel Dod, and back over Little Hill to pick up good farm track.jonglew31/03/2021

12.5 mile circular taking in Gana Hill, Earncraig Hill, Penbreck, Queensberry, Wee Queensberry, The Law and Nether Dod on a sunny/high cloud day saw no one throughout. From Gana Hill followed pathless, wet but easy ground to Daer Hass where you can easily step across the stream contouring north to avoid steep pull to Earncraig Hill summit, next onto Penbreck.DanTrig01/08/2020

Kirkhope- Rodger Law- Ballencleuch Law - Scaw'd Law - Wedder Law - Gana Hill - Earncraig Hill- Kirkhope round. A roughish walk from Gana Hill- still some ATV tracks, more or less following the boundary line through moor, bog and knolls to Daer Hass, then easier going (some steep) to HP, then trackless most of way to Daerhead, In fact, we went to a watersmeet ca 300m upstream for an easier burn crossing. On the hills, the going had been drier than expected after a wet summer, but there was plenty of water in the burns. 2 miles back to Kirkhope were on a good track to finish an excellent hill day with Pete.pwheeler16/09/2019

From Mitchellstacks via Wee Queenberry to Queensberry then out to Harestanes Heights and Mid Height coming back over Earncraig Hill and Gana Hill. Track down starts at summit, not as per OS. Windy but cracking day.SS13/04/2019
A steep drop from Penbreck. I recommend heading north where the drop is less steep. From Earncraig directly west to Gana Hill. Solo.bolton28/03/2019
From Queensberry on way to Gana. Cold and breezy, didn't stay too long!MichaelF26/03/2019
Continuation from Queensberry via Capel Yetts col slowly up SW on Berry Rig - legs displaying unfitness. Lunched at summit wall, observing heather-burning on Hard Hill, and descended S to Burleywhags bothy; inspected inside, v clean, and wrote short entry in log book. Followed atv and main track (discovering my earlier error en-route to Q) back to P at Mitchellslacks. A few clouds came over, making the N wind feel colder but grand for walking. First visit was also solo on 02/09/2015.jacobus25/03/2019

From Kirkhope road end, Daer Reservoir. Track to Daerhead easy crossing (could be tricky if in spate) then up Whiteside Hill to summit. Great views, sunny cold day first frozen turf of the winter.N.Morters27/10/2018

Parked in very wide entrance to Mitchellslacks at 9653 9595 & up Wee Queensberry & Queensberry. From Queensberry, a fairly straightforward crossing of Penbreck & down to Capel Yetts, making use of available trods/paths & ATV tracks - Up faint path & then ATV track on RHS of fence to unmarked summit. Continued to Gana Hill. (S)gerrybowes01/05/2018
Round of 4 Donalds Using track from Kirkhope to Wedder Law and Scawd Law. Old ATV tracks across to Gana Hill and over to Earncraig. Back via Daerhead, burn easy to cross unless in spate.AndrewFinnimore29/04/2018

Hitteril Hill - Comb Law - Ballencleuch Law - Scaw'd Law - Wedder Law - Gana Hill - Earncraig Hill from N end of Daer Reservoir. Started W along Southern Upland Way for nearly 1km then S/SE along track and rough climb up felled forestry to climb Hitteril Hill. Descent W finding gap through forestry, easier underfoot for rest of route. Overnight camp just beyond Comb LawRobertP18/09/2016
MMC walk with John Berry, Eunice Coop and Jon Moss to and from Kirkhope parking. Sunny occasionally overcast dry calm day with great viz.8 1/2 hours Daer 6 round.alexmaclennan15/05/2016
Solo; dropped off Gana Hill to Deer Hass and steeply up wall on W side of EH, disturbing herd of wild goats before arriving at summit corner of wall; checked out tall straining post for elevation. Lunched in lee of wall, then dropped down to Deer Hass and directly W to hit fence, turning SW, NW and onto track past summit of Gana Hill again (second round visit). Continued on this track for ca. 1km, then leaving it as it turned towards Garroch Fell by dropping NW to meet stone dyke at the top of Berry Grain which was followed with some difficulty down steep heather to join track at junction with Tarnsley Burn. Walked NW and turned SW beside Glenleith Burn to sluice and fanks to join track leading to Blackhill Moss and used a picnic table for snacking; continued along Glenaggart track passing through shooting party who were searching the heather for grouse they had brought down; went on to starting section to car at Durisdeer Church. Weather was excellent at this time.trienbrae02/09/2015
Included Gana Hill and Queensberry in a round from Kirkhope at Daer.Roblex05/11/2014
See Ballencleuch Law. Same route as entry below, stream very low so easy to cross but did rip trousers on slack barbed wire fence ar Daerhead farm.dickscroop12/09/2014
Continuation of walk from Gana Hill. Followed a faint ATV track down by fence first north-east then south-east to the narrow bealach at Daer Hass, then steeply up, following a new barbed wire fence and old wall to summit. To return, followed sheep and ATV tracks NNW down Whiteside Hill, crossed river (would be difficult in spate) to Daerhead and then followed track back north to Kirkhope.Man of Kernow103/09/2014
