Minor detour on the 7 mile drive from housesit at the hamlet of St Veep to GP in Lostwithiel (Losty) on a gorgeous blue sky sunny spring morning with buzzards and skylarks above and primroses lining the lanes. However all is not well down in the little Trebant Water to the E and S where Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) exceed the DEFRA fail level. PBDE comes from old flame retardant materials e.g. furniture foam and wiring before it was banned in 2019 (except in aircraft). The adverse effects on humans in the food chain are not good with possible effects on the thyroid system, potential endocrine disrupting effects, reproductive toxicity, and neurodevelopment toxicity. The river also failed for its Mercury levels. It had been such a lovely day until I read all this. The river has however achieved a good rating for 11 other chemical measures of things I can't pronounce, but any fails are sobering. At least monitoring and awareness and mitigation planning is afoot.Chris Pearson27/03/2023

In field to south of road with low banks. Crops growing. Quite level and hard to say exactly where HP was but embankment a possibility, not sure if natural. Alternatively in centre of field on line between embankment and gateway. Pleasant field views on bright breezy day.Denise 31/03/2018
Along field margins from road gate at NW corner of summit field. Levellish summit, young crop in field. Sunshine and cumulus but dry.RichardM31/03/2018
