As part of a walk from Perranporth to Ellenglaze along the coast and back via the lost church and cross. | sarahk | 23/04/2023 |
Wall to wall sunshine in January - so declined work today -the beauty of supply teaching. A 4 hr walk with L from Perranporth and back to this headland summit initially along the 3km long and wide vastness at low tide of Perran beach - pure sand - no stones or shells (or sea glass). Scrambled up to the flag pole on the little 10m high chapel rock with its tidal swimming pool. Inland are the marram grass covered Penhale Sands dunes, an area so complex and shifting even the OS give up on mapping the contours on 1:25000. Its a noted top class (i.e. very difficult!) orienteering area. By chance I'm competing in an event here next weekend! The extensive area of derelict nissan huts of Penhale army camp is awaiting development - 132 houses. Hopefully they will be far enough back from the alarmingly dramatic and crumbling high cliff edge which the SWCP dices with here. | Chris Pearson | 24/01/2023 |

From Holywell on SWCP. HP seemed to be in a grassy area on west side of the MoD building. The building and nearby odd-shaped antennae array is a DF receiver station paired with the transmitters at St Eval. | jonglew | 22/02/2017 |
