from Caolasnacon. Ascent via path/track E side of Allt Gleann a' Chaolais, then from col following fence posts to summit. Return same route. Some wet snow made boulder fields tricky higher up. Thick cloud. Squalls. Windy. But quite warm for Feb | wychwood | 19/02/2024 |

We waited for a good weather forecase before attempting the Anoach Eagach. Some cloud cover when climbing up to Am Bodach but clear when we topped Meall Dearg. WE set off together with another, much larger party but left them behind after the chimney. Excellent scrambling and a good head for heights is needed! | darradog | 29/05/2014 |

Anonach Eagach - with Rach. Weather was very good, windy and wet to begin but clearing as we reaches the top. Great ridge walk with some technical scrambling. Climbing down some of the rocks proving the most difficult bit. Great Day! | scholesy | 29/09/2012 |
Anonach Eagach - amazing walk. First time I've done a ridge walk or proper scrambling and whilst it was doable there was a sustained stretch of scrambling which as a beginner required lots of concentration. That being said, thoroughly enjoyable and defo recommend to the adventurous walker. | Rachel | 29/09/2012 |
Leader of 9 teenagers, 2 other adults (Tim Brook & Mike Strickland), after China trip, after which I flew London - Edinburgh & met one pupil & drove to where others were camping at Inverarnan; this day we drove 2 minibuses, left one at Clachaig, drove up to E end of Aon Eag. Lovely day, bright and dry and mild. Great route but the descent down the eroded Clachaig Gully a nightmare. | NorfolkPT21 | 20/07/2012 |

Descended direct to the Clachaig which was painful. Had a swift drink in the pub and secured a lift back to the car. | jigglybones | 10/07/2004 |

Done solo while staying in holiday cottages in Glencoe for the Millennium. Having bagged Sgorr nam Fiannaidh from the W the previous day & given up on the ridge due to the conditions, I went round to Loch Leven side intending to look at Garbh Bheinn. Instead I got drawn up the frozen glen towards Meall Dearg. Reached the bealach between the two & then ascended the broad ridge towards the Munro. Very icy higher up with mist skimming the summit. Back by the same route which took an age due to the ice. | NotReallyABagger | 03/01/2000 |

Straight up onto the ridge after arriving in Glencoe at 6am after and an overnight drive up from Barrow with tony (after syphoning petrol between cars). beautiful morning -nobody else yet up and about. Much easier scrambling in summer than our recent winter crossings . Even the nasty bit was not too bad. Down alongside the Clachaig Gully then 3 mile walk back for car. With Mike and Brian who was delighted to join us. Becoming a habit leading this. Seem to remember the descent had been made more difficult by some anglo fencing bits off. | SS | 16/06/1990 |
After the descent of Am Bodach, narrow ridge walking. The exposed scrambling came after Meall Dearg- terrifically exposed but on good rock. So much has been written about Aonach Eagach, all I will add is to say we took on all the pinnacles, didn't try to evade anything and kept to the ridge. I really think this was the safest approach and certainly highly exciting and satisfying. Only after a 5 min shower, the only rain, was there a problem, with the rock being wet but this soon dried in the sunshine. I hope erosion and polishing of rock hasn't created problems since we did Aonach Eagach in 1990. Surprisingly few people (10 to 20-ish) on the ridge the day we did it. A great day, near our limits. We needed a guide, and to be roped up, when we did Curved Ridge. With brother Pete. | pwheeler | 31/05/1990 |

Unlogged summit climbed while living / holidaying in Scotland between 1972 and 1987. Did the Aonach Eagach ridge east to west solo while at the Tyndrum caravan. Scared myself stiff - never again, although my wife has done it twice since. | BURGESS | 31/08/1987 |

With Sally, Tony, Steph, Mark. E to W repeat of last year to the same date. Soft snow and a blazed trail -crampons. Big queue at The Pinnacles. Chaos with a guide and girl coming the other way. All groups using ropes -I belayed Mark on purple, but another group was also using a purple rope - the guide's client pulled on our rope. A time wasting tangle. | Chris Pearson | 03/01/1987 |

A beautiful winter day in perfect winter conditions. Wild camping outside the Clachaig. Left quite late and hitched to start. The only way we were going to have time was to travel fast and so left the rope behind. All sent to clockwork. Descended due south from the final Munro. This was not the normal route at the time though now favoured if conditions are right. | sarahk | 01/03/1986 |

W John H. Ridge crowded with weekenders on this fine day- we had come W-E meeting lots going E-W -requiring passing places. Good scramble up grooves, chimneys and pillars -all good fun -not too bad except for big drops with one nasty bit getting around a rock bollard. With party from Onich CHA Guest House. A+ (and A and B) parties walked to Ballachulish Ferry, crossed ferry and went by coach up Glen Coe. A+ party (including me) alighted at the start of the path to Am Bodach. This path was taken. At the top of Am Bodach three of the party retired, leaving only one other A+ member apart from myself and the leader. Also present were 4 others, not down originally as A+ but very good. The weather was thick mist and there was a lot of rain. The mist cleared for about 2 min on top. We went along the Chancellor Ridge to Meall Dearg and along the Aonach Eagach ridge to Sgòr nam Fiannaidh. Care was taken because of the wet rocks. Some tremendous views were obtained of Loch Leven and Loch Linnhe and the hills of Ardgour on the descent to Glencoe Village. Tea was had at the Glencoe tea rooms. | pwbellarby | 04/09/1970 |

The party comprised two older Rovers (Iain L and Brian J) and three Venture Scouts (Mike G, John F and myself). During the ascent from the road to the ridge I was hit by stomach pains which Mike diagnosed as a lack of food or energy. The restorative effects of the handful of raisins which he gave me were somewhat tempered by an after taste of paraffin. When we were moving roped together the instructions were that if one member of the party slipped off the ridge then we were to jump off the opposite side of the ridge! Fortunately, this theory was never tested. When tackling the pinnacles or towers along the ridge we moved one at a time in a series of pitches with each climber belayed by someone. We camped in Glencoe and drank in The Clachaig. | langskill | 09/03/1968 |
