Parked on verge just past farm entrance. Appears to be holiday cottages?? Permission sought from and willingly given by man at end of track. 'Hill fort' is signed alongside quarry lake. Summit area is landscaped with wide paths cut through meadow and new tree planting. HP apparently centre of ancient embankments but various points visited and grassy embankments are higher. Nice. | Denise | 13/06/2023 |
Park on wide section of road and take drive E to Mossy Beech group of holiday properties. No problem gaining permission to visit the hill fort which has flooded quarry, mown grass with embanked edges and open access to grassy hill top to E. Various mown paths cross the levelish hill top. High point unmarked in long grass. | RichardM | 13/06/2023 |
Called into the owner who readily gave permission to wander over the well maintained hill fort and out to the E side for the HP, although the ground in middle of the embankments seemed as high. | jonglew | 09/11/2021 |
Permission happily given. Fort wall much higher than adjacent field. | Campbell Singer | 11/04/2019 |
Parked on the road to the west where it meets the five way junction. Walked south to the end of the field before the trees. Through an open gate and alongside the trees to a fence. Over this and after 50m entered the summit field. Although the earthworks are the highest part, the highest natural land appears to be in the field east of them. Visited this and the ground adjacent to the earthworks to be sure. Easy walk. | moorsman | 06/08/2018 |
Was going to wonder up but spoke to possible owner of land who gave me permission to follow tracks up to hill fort. | Dusty | 22/04/2015 |
