Enter the woods at ST 82546 39188 and leave at ST 82545 39189 over broken down fencing. | Martin R | 22/10/2023 |
Up the bridle path from the north which emerges in some woods, through some wet bracken to a bwf and into summit pasture. | clivevilla | 30/07/2023 |
You have to pick your way over some barbed wire but easy enough to find in field | Trantham Clan | 29/04/2023 |
Kingston Deverill to Warminster. 3rd visit, this time a SE to NW traverse giving fine views of the surrounding topography. | Smudge | 18/11/2022 |
Tight verge parking 20m west of the the northern bridlepath. Excellent bluebell display, then on to cold kitchen pillar. The farmer was out for a walk and suggested access from the beacon diagonally across to pillar aling tram line/access track. | cjo | 20/04/2022 |
Parked at start of bridleway to sw. Barbara stayed in car in case of traffic on bw. Delightful views south and north. Summit in large field. Several buzzards | Campbell Singer | 06/10/2021 |
From path to NW as no parking at path to N | Mark Sims | 01/07/2021 |
From Baycliffe Farm. Both grid refs visited. | PGCE | 22/09/2020 |
From Brixton Deverill via Cold Kitchen Hill, then onto Horningsham trig & back to Brixton Deverill - HP in field near to wood. | DanMaisieBex | 05/09/2020 |
Walked up from Maiden Bradley via road then ROW | fosal29 | 14/02/2020 |
Snowy, slightly domed field with indistinct HP but good views just N of RoW. On XC skis, from Horningsham on sunny day and continuing E along ridge to Cold Kitchen Hill. | Denise | 03/02/2019 |
Ski ascent along the W ridge, levelish summit field sheltered by woodland. 20cm of snow here today. Great skiing across to Cold Kitchen Hill. | RichardM | 03/02/2019 |
From N. Parking OK | jimbloomer | 16/02/2018 |
From NW parking on verge near Baycliffe Farm. Path by gallops then east up the hill. Went to Tumulus, spot height and to 285 contour ring in the woods, which was lower than Tumulus. | PeterD | 06/08/2017 |
Walked up from the SW. I thought this a lovely hill with expansive views - a good one to complete my home catchment. Not much of a summit - perhaps on a thistley lump (tumulus?) close to various patches of scrub. Don't think it's in the wood. | Herbert Anchovy | 03/08/2017 |
From ROW to the SW. First north then curling east. Bold spot height of 284m on grassy field to NE but 285m contour ring in woodland | vegibagger | 25/07/2017 |
A bit doubtful about 285m ring contour | Adrian | 13/07/2017 |
Whilst on a mountain bike ride. | Swindon Bagger | 28/09/2016 |
..after a long march from Warminster over 5 tumps I climbed up via Southleigh Wood up the north spur and down the west. 6th tump of 10 on a 26 mile 8 hr circuit from Warminster. The chalky grasslands, scrub, and woodlands are a SSSI being biologically rich. The nice sounding frog orchid can be found here and autumn lady’s-tresses as well as less kindly named bastard-toadflax. Ant hills are also noted here, so watch where you sit. Down to the E the 6 villages along the Wylye valley are known as The Deverills. | Chris Pearson | 30/07/2016 |
Warminster out & back. The ridge from Brims Down was a very pleasant approach. | Smudge | 31/01/2015 |
Mere to Warminster. Bridleway from SW was an excruciating mud slog untill near the top. The 285m contour ring HP is not readily discernable & requires a fence hop. | Smudge | 27/12/2014 |
Did this hill in 2009 and then again, without realizing it was a revisit, on 24 Mar 2014 when we had a pleasant walk up from Kingston Deverill to this hill top pasture with views N to Longleat House. Circular walk coming over Cold Kitchen on return. | jonglew | 21/06/2009 |
pleasant wdld, summit pasture adjacent, dull, OK view. BW from north | RHW | 22/09/2002 |
First time I did Long Knoll and Whitesheet Hill I started at Maiden Bradley; the last section of my walk was from Kingston Deverill and the walk over the long ridge of Brimsdown Hill was a very pleasant way to finish. Sunny day in a nice, under-rated area. | pwheeler | 13/04/1997 |
