Parked at covered reservoir, nice easy walk and good views.midlife_hiking18/08/2021
Parked at top of Tank Hill and followed bridleway onto downs, then paths/tracks over N side of Battlesbury hill fort- perhaps the most impressive in Wilts. Up to HP from NE, but noted at least 3 good paths to HP. There are far more paths up here than shown on OS maps and the access, here outside the range fence, is very good. Continued to Middle Hill and Scratchbury Hill- the mainly used path goes over the summits. Returned on the SW side of Middle Hill and Battlesbury Wood, slanting back up to the start up a good RoW where there were nationally scarce Large Scabious mining bees- an impressive insect amongst the flower-rich hills. One of the top Tumps walks.pwheeler03/08/2021

Parked by the tank at the top of Sack Hill, then walked up the footpath, through the gap in the rampants, and up to the trig pointMariana Trench07/01/2017
2nd of 10 Tumps on a 26 miler walk / jog circuit from Warminster over 8 hours. Alarmingly I was barked and snarled at by off the lead dogs on both sides of this hill, whilst the owners struggled to call them off. Perhaps I could have summoned the rapid support of the armoured infantry of my fellow Yorkshiremen from the 1st Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment who are stationed at Battlesbury Barracks just below at the foot of the hill (on the edge of Salisbury Plain for training). Their website recounts the recent merges and renaming / rebadging of regiments to form a slimmer Army 2020. It also hosts poignant tributes to individual soldiers who have been killed in recent conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq.Chris Pearson30/07/2016
Parked near the tank and followed the easy path to the trig. It's in a very impressive hill fort.Chris Peart23/01/2015
Plenty of parking to north at end of Sack Hill - by tank at garrison gates. Good track all way to summit (note - the track is to the west of the field boundary, not to the east as shown on OS maps). No access issues on hill fort with a path all way to summit trig. Good viewsHillsidenick10/11/2013
