From Flotterstone. Past the reservoir to the field gate between Logan Cottage and Logan House (205632). Up the field on a track to another gate in the top corner between the 2 forests (204634) which then picks up a big track that leads all the way to the summit. From the summit followed the ATV track down the NE ridge which then leads to a big track down the valley and to a gate beside Logan Cottage leading back to the road 7.8 miles - under 2hrs 50 walking timeJulieB16/09/2021
From Castlelaw Car park NT 230637. Left road just before Logan House. We came back via NT 2054 6327, though which was a better route. Operated SOTA on short wave from summit on a nice sunny day.G4OBK (Phil)28/08/2021
From large free cat park at Threipmuir Reservoir. At the second deer fence headed uphill and soon found an ATV track. Left this when gate on the NW to SE fence could bee seen. From there a stalkers path took us to the top. Descended SE to The Howe for an advent of Scald Law.garyhoney16/08/2021
Anticlockwise round the reservoir. From W best route is just to follow a suitable line of butts.Thearlaichdubh02/07/2021
With Rod from Flotterstone up Turnhouse Hill then Carnethy Hill. Dropped down to The Howe then round the back of Black Hill for easy ascent on atv track then path. Very pleasant descent on good track to Glencorse reservoir and back to car.SS11/05/2021
Bus to Balerno terminus. Up from col to NW, along ridge. Straight down to dam. Should have continued along ridge. Back via Harlaw.Thearlaichdubh12/04/2021
solo partial Pentland Skyline. The descent from Castlelaw and then re-ascent to Turnhouse and Carnethy into a strong headwind meant that the attempt to complete the full skyline today was beyond me. Lack of clear path on Black Hill was also a challenge.langskill22/02/2021
From Harlaw Carpark, straight up after the small dam - pretty miserable. Back via the NE ridge and round the bottom to the dam. Not the most inspiring hill.Tisteln16/11/2020
From Harlaw Carpark. Straight up, then down and round via NE ridge.Dibber16/11/2020
Second of day after Allermuir loop. Bit of a steep slog from Logan House.iangpark03/03/2020
4 of 4: From Scald Law. Down to The Howe. Then a narrow path visible from Scald Law from 19027 62079 to join a better path at 18980 62350. Back down a vehicle track not on the map to Logan Cottage.ChrisR17/11/2019
Parked at visitors centre off A702 and included Turnhouse Hill, Carnethy Hill, Scald Hill then headed down to the Howe then climbed quite steeply at first but no bother to the summit of Black Hill, followed ATV track down base of NE shoulder and followed track SE to the roadside at Logan cottage and back to Visitor centre. The Rodmiester21/04/2019
Parked at Threipmuir Car Park at 166638 - Over Redford Bridge & along excellent Penicuik & Glencorse Path to 2nd gate in deer fence at 179625 - Turned left, NE up path to fence & alongside fence to hurdle at 183626 - Over hurdle & needed to head for the narrow, but obvious path alongside white grit tray marker posts; this leads directly to summit. Missed this on way up, so a fair bit of heather bashing! (S)gerrybowes15/02/2019
Pentland Skyline Hill Racequadbarrel14/10/2018
From Redford Wood car park, N side of Threipmuir Resr. The Kips and Scald Law first on good tracks. Dropping down to The Howe the good track then ends and it's over rough heathery ground up to here. A narrow and sometimes faint path was found down to NT 1805 6278 when the main path is rejoined back to Bavelaw Castle. With Christine Page.jonglew11/10/2018

Misty - quite hard to determine the true summit?thekirkie pirate20/12/2017
Good midday solo circular walk from Threipmuir Car Park in sunny but cold conditions. Cannot understand all the worry about mud - isn't that why we wear boots? Plenty of red grouse on the hill - just as well it was a Sunday or I might have got shot!barnz4805/11/2017

It was blowing a gale and between showers. The summit was very flat. This was one of four peaks we comleted today, covering 8.4 miles with two particularly steep climbs. My legs are ready for a well earned rest.Simon110018/02/2017
With OCH from Flotterstone. Cold, windy, dry. No other summits. Rounsfell03/01/2017
From car park to north west. Round reservoir and up on good track, short route on return over bridge.rhalstead30/12/2016
Great 10.7 mile walk from Castlelaw car park, walked up good lane then steep path up to Castlelaw Hill, along lanes to Allermuir Hill with a great view of Edinburgh, out-and-back to Caerketton Hill, then along ridge to Capelaw Hill, followed good trails to Harbour Hill then onto Bell's Hill, then one final long pull up onto Black Hill (where weather turned from sunny to rain), then along main lane from summit down to farmland (weather improving), joined surfaced road along Glencorse Reservoir I had previously walked in 2015 after doing Scald Law ridge, then up path not marked on map along rifle range boundary back to Castlelaw car park.DanTrig11/10/2016
