From the road beside the golf club (golf club parking members only). Along old railway line until edge of forest and broken signpost, obvious ATV track and animal track to summit (1hr 2.4 miles). Back same way. Nice grassy hill)JulieB17/02/2024
From West Linton GC car park. Roman Road initially, peeling off after ~1.7km (NT 1316 5080) to take a mapped break in strip plantation and then a direct line up. On to North Muir Hill, Catstone, Fadden (sub-tump), King Seat, Little King Seat (sub-tump) and return for a 16km round.jonglew28/01/2024

From Dolphinton to S, along track past Ingraston to signed path up to top. Back along SW ridge and down to Ingraston again to outward path.IanHHill14/10/2023
Parked Golf club. Along Roman Road, followed fairly obvious path up. Relatively easy going.colazione30/07/2023
Solo trip from the golf club.Invicta1418/07/2023
A clockwise high-level walk around the West Water Reservoir from West Linton golf course. First along the road around & through the course to the green keeper sheds and on past some new fancy holiday cottages to an estate shed, where a grass path leads up to a horse field NE of Mendick Hill. A continued climb over pathless ground eventually leads to a walkers path on to the summit. Animal and ATV tracks NW to North Muir Hill and then N over featureless ground to the wide track to Catstone. Grass path to Craigengar then heather-hopping over to Mealowther. More rough stuff ESE to eventually find a fence line up Byrehope Mount and King Seat. Straight down to the reservoir and the road back to the clubhouse. 5.15hrs.summitter30/01/2023
Unfamiliar with this area, so spent a lot of time scanning from main road to see if a route could me made to pen hillsode…..and then pted to lark on the mudddy area on access driveway to Golf Club and other prperties. Can imagine that this would / could be easily too busy. Therafter, a starightforward and straight walk, through many gates and shoogly bits of metak , out to sheep aea and used sheep tracks. Eturn same.VerySlowPlodder14/10/2022
Coda to earlier Pentlands walk, this time alone. From golf club in early evening sun and breeze. Pastoral scene looking north with trees and ripe corn fields, the Pentland Hills the backdrop.Wycombe Wanderer05/08/2022
Parked outside the golf course then followed the Roman road SW to the ruined sign post. Decent track from here to the summit of this impressive hill. 2 hours, just under 4.5 miles. Solo.bolton01/06/2022
Parked near Golf Course entrance followed track SW u til broken sign post and the up on faint path to trig and HP. Nice hill.PeterD14/05/2022
Luckily managed to park by golf club. Shame so much parking space that could be used, is taken up by an old looking Boat, and well spaced out bins. Followed the route taken by many others, watching out, to spot the broken signpost that points the way uphill.Hirta06/05/2022
An early morning start walking out to Cramond Island (surprisingly not a SIB) then I drove to West Linton. The route to this hill looked complicated on the map but it was quite easy. As others, I came along the Roman Road from the golf club. After the last trees, a broken signpost marks the path uphill to the summit trig. The whole area is a very popular walking spot with locals. From bus stop by hotel to golf course and along Roman Road. Turned right at gate and sharp ascent.Great views on blustery day.the pigguy 01/10/2021
Parked at Golf Course, down Roman Road then followed path from waymark to summit. Easy enough line through the bracken.SS30/08/2021
Managed to park half on banking a few metres beyond the entrance to the golf club at NT 14120 5208. Parking area before entrance was coned off & parking area after entrance contained a Humber RIB alongside its large trailer. Headed along road & then track to broken fingerpost just after gate at 126500 - Left track & picked up a decent path/bits of ATV track which provided a clear route up through the bracken & joined the S. ridge about 200m from the summit. Fine panoramic views. (S)gerrybowes30/06/2021
Parked just uphill from entrance to golf club. Approached along Roman Road till we got to signpost. However the sign has been broken. Followed path uphill. On descent we went off to the north east and through a gate. Then off to our right followed the barbed wire fence to another gate which gave access between woodland to a field and the Roman road back to the cars.KevPalmer19/05/2021
Up signposted path from Roman Road, then over to North Muir. Barb wire fence at 118507.Fife Walking22/10/2020
Parked just off the A702 went up via Ingraston Hill. Quite tussocky in places. Came down on official path to join Roam Road at NT126500. Great memorial seat on summit to take in the views.G4OBK (Phil)06/08/2020

Just to be different, I started from the Dolphinton end of the track, good parking by the wall next to the gate. Distance is slightly less than from the golf course but there's a bit more climbing, so the time should be the same; however, I dislike golf courses. The track is good to the base of the hill. I went up directly, crossing an expanse of sweet-smelling clover, then dodging bracken up the hill to join the golf course path higher up. Nice bench at the top, good views. I went down the golf course path to the finger post, then back along the track.Gill10/07/2019
As per others, parking by the golf club entrance.curlebd17/02/2019
Parked in lay-by on A702, ascent via Ingreston farm, quarry and hill and descended direct to Roman Road then across field. A fine viewpoint and hill with a bonus bench at the summit.Chris Mac14/10/2018
As previous baggers - parked just before the entrance to the golf club and followed the road then branched off left anon course of old Roman Road following signpost to Mendick Hill. At signpost turned north and followed a path - a bit indistinct at first but becoming more obvious further up to summit. Down eastward to gate then skirted round west side of Little Mendick down side of plantation to rejoin road through golf course back to car. Dull grey and windyJubilado17/09/2018
Usual route from side of WL golf course along Roman Road and round via Little Mendick Hill.Roblex03/08/2018
Bagging the trig. Parked just before the golf course and walked along the signposted path until a wooden sign pointed up Mendick Hill. A faint path led easily to the summit. Extensive views all round but very windy today. With A,T, CJ.BigJ18/06/2018
Up from the north by the side of the easternmost wood, over wall and up to the top. Nice views. Down to the NE and the E to a break in the trees. Two chickhen and barbed wired fences to cross to reach the estate road.Alan Moore29/11/2017
Parked at golf course, followed track south and upwards after trees. Probably would have been faster from the south. High cloud, windy and good views.iangalbraith12/10/2017

Parked A702 opposite Infraction Farm. Through farm entrance and followed track to right then crossed fields and ascended.Simon110019/02/2017
Parked near West Linton Golf Course. Walked west on track crossing golf course. Turned left through gate into field immediately before the track leaves the golf course near North Slipperfield. Passed through further gate. Crossed burn on two old railway rails and ascended bank to pass through further gate. Crossed to opposite side of field and ascended adjacent to boundary towards Little Mendick Hill. At the top of the field crossed the boundary fence to avoid forestry land and continued adjacent to the boundary to reach open ground and traverse Little Mendick Hill. After crossing a fence Mendick Hill was ascended on easy ground to reach the trig point. There is a path which looks like it comes from South Slipperfield (this may be an easier way up, but the route described was not problematic except for perhaps the burn crossing). Descended on path in a southerly then south easterly direction to reach Roman Road which was followed back to the West Linton.raffemeister11/11/2016
Brilliant walk, really beautiful area. Walked from lay-by after West Linton Golf Course.Danmawr23/03/2016
Parked on minor road just off the A702 and ascended from the south west leaving the track before reaching Ingraston.JohnW16/07/2015
From West Linton golf course. Showers at summit, passing over rapidly. Rounsfell28/05/2015
Niall and I combined the hill with a trail run out to Garvald along the drove road with a return by the Roman road and ascent of the hill. Glorious bright cold day with wonderful views.kenmorti26/04/2015
from W Linton GC, with K. Followed path west of hill over to Garvald then round by riding school and joined S ridge just before Ingraston. Good run with surprisingly long views, on a cool sunny morning.niallp26/04/2015

Solo. From junction of A701 & minor road to Garvald. Followed track signposted to West Linton as right of way. Left track to go diagonally up hillside. There is a parallel fence (topped with barbed wire) and wall crossing SE to NW over neck of hill. Easily climbed over old gate at the highest point. Descended directly to the right of way so avoiding the barbed wire.pwbellarby06/12/2014
From car at about 129505 crossed fence and some felled woodland to open country and steeply up to summit. Very rushed, but good views. Back similar route but struggled through dense wood back to track and car (16:05)dbb15/08/2014
Parking for about 6 cars just before and after entrance to West Linton Golf Club.andyjholmes10/07/2014
Parked at golf course. Walked along Roman Road, easily found way through line of trees and up to summit.AndrewFinnimore21/04/2014
After E and W Cairn. From the golf club carpark. Warning- Don't park facing the 18th green in case someone chips onto your car windscreen. Follow the trach SE of S Slipperfield and then gate through the trees. Very shapely hillThearlaichdubh28/12/2013
Parked on A702 second layby (first on right) going out of West Linton Eastwards. Like Dugswell three gates to fell through fields then steep climb in near blizzard conditions to first hillock, then on through small crag to summit trig. Nice memorial bench. Back same way and home before roads closed!nordicstar21/01/2013
