From Meigle Row up mast track. Wallace’s stone a bit of a let down.PeteF12/04/2024
Parked at roadside uphill from the Clovenford hotel. Followed the walk suggested in 40 Favourites book, which was lovely on the southern section, but very muddy from just before the quarry area on the latter section of the walk.Hirta12/03/2024
Parked at the bridge at Caddonfoot, NT 448 349,through the gate opposite and on to the excellent path which follows the Blackhope Burn with a few nice waterfalls.Path all the way to the top via two gates further up.Great views over the Eildons from the Putting Stone.ARM17/11/2023
parked by water pumping station, path to trig.BLACKHILL16/10/2023

Circular walk from the centre of Galashiels - a muggy day meant the flying ants were out in force - horrible.milimana10/08/2023
From Galashiels Station through town, past cricket club and pumping station over summit and down farm track to Clovenfords.the pigguy 29/04/2023
Parked to the east at the reservoir and then straightforward to the summit. A nice amble of just over an hour return.Alan Caine10/04/2023
Not easy access from Clovenfords but good track up to the masts. Descent direct over fields. Took in Mossilee Hill too.sclater15/03/2023
Parked just after Water Filter Station and followed path up.colazione31/12/2022
With Lesley. Footpath on minor road road SE from roundabout. Wallace's putting stone and massive summit cairn. Weather threatening rain but held off.Nick Canute28/09/2022
Parked end of Manse Lane near cricket ground, easy paths to summit trigG0HIO08/08/2022
Parked in a visitors bay in the new housing estate 1 street along from Meigle Farm. Up through farm, followed track up to masts and then summit. To descend continued along track north east then north sort of following Meigle circular but then lost the signs. Stayed high through 2 gates above quarry, continued west to rejoin track below a wood, then continued to pick up outward track just above farm. Pleasant 4.5mile circuit.JulieB14/06/2022
From the water filter station a there and back route. There were a lot of cows with young calves at the top of the first field along by the signed exit so I diverted around the far edges for this section. It was very windy so I am assuming they were trying to shelter there. A lot of the trees near the summit and putting stone appear to have been blown down during the storms earlier this year so I didnt attempt to find the putting stone as it looked a bit hazardous over the wall.KevPalmer13/05/2022
Up n Doon the track from Meigle. An impressively large cairn.summitter27/03/2022
Circular walk from Galashiels visiting Meigle Hill, Neidpath Hill, Mount Skep, Touting Birks Hill and Gala Hill.RobB13/01/2022
After Sell Moor Hill, with J from the water filter station on a windy & overcast day. Followed waymarked path straight up to summit. The trees on the other side of the wall/fence have been felled except for a thin strip next to the wall further up which has opened up the view to S & E. Also now easier to find the Putting Stone as per David Evans's description. Back by the same route.NotReallyABagger07/10/2021
2 of 5: After Sell Moor Hill we drove to Galashiels and parked at the water filtering station. With Karen.ChrisR15/06/2021

From the water filtering station. Straightforward up a grassy path.Clach Liath10/02/2019
A quick bag after earlier walk at the Three Breathen - Parked by old Victorian Gatehouse - Meigle - Meigle Potts - Hill summit and mast and ancient cairn as sun sets - descended to be greerted by Rooks massing on wires as they gather to roost for the night.briandavies06/10/2018
From water works straight up and down. Good views of Gala from just below the treeline.SS16/09/2018
From Gala side. Largely overcast but not raining. Snow drifts at top. Rounsfell06/04/2018
Plenty of room to park just beyond the water filtering station (Galashiels side). Good grassy track to obvious trig point next to the wall.Owen B02/04/2018
From the lay by on the A72, after getting the hump with trying to park amongst the breeding pens in Clovenfords. Over the gate, up to the wall, followed SW to a hole which allows an easy wriggle under the barbed wire. Across 2 fields, gates, onto the open moor, and a steep, interminable plod to the trig. You can't get lost, just head for the masts. Not one of the best hills around here. Hints and tips: avoid Galashiels unless you're a fan of bad signposting and traffic jams.Gill08/02/2018
Directly up from layby at NT462373 - over the first wall then gates where you need them.Chris Peart29/10/2017
Day trip by train to Galashiels. Solo. Followed path from Filter Station to summit of Meigle Hill. Visited Wallace's Putting Stone, which is a little inside the forest. Continued to Mount Skep, Touting Birks Hill and Gala Hill. Mixture of cloud and sun with a few drops of rain.pwbellarby12/09/2017
Circuit from Cloven Ford. Either the putting stone is not very impressive or we couldn't find it.mindlessflogger28/07/2017
2/3 from Meikle Farm. Parked in new housing estate. Through farm yard along track to summit, part of a way marked circuit. Huge cairn over wall.N.Morters24/06/2017

Early evening walk up and down via tracks from Clovenfords. Sunny.Winterfloodian30/04/2017
Nice circular waymarked walk. Parked in Clovenfords. From roundabout (there's only one) SW on A72 100m into Caddonfoot Rd. Short distance along Rd signposted footpath through wood. Contoured hillside to Caddonfoot.Up path N of burn through gate & followed drystone wall(not waymarked) up towards masts. Met nice farmer looking for his sheep who had heard of Marilyn's! From trig followed wall NE (excellent views of Galashiels) to pick up circular walk. 3 hour 45 total. Excellent day excellent hill.rogreeves13/01/2017
From estate below treatment plant.rhalstead31/12/2016
Parked just beyond end of water treatment plant NT 47841 36686 (enough room for about 3 cars). Good track to summit. Also found Wallace's Putting Stone with the help of directions by a local. (For stone, go over wall into trees by the big cairn and follow the track adjacent to the wall for about 30 yards, the track then veers into the woods for a few yards and brings you to Wallace's stone).David Evans17/12/2016
Whilst staying with the Outlaws for the weekend. From Clovenfords via Meigle. There is a signposted circular walk taking in the summit although I used the track to the masts in both directions.raffemeister13/08/2016
Straightforward ascent from Clovenfords in warm, sunny conditions, but why are three masts needed on the summit, when they seem to serve the same purpose? There is a large summit cairn over the wall, but not the highest point.JohnW07/06/2016
Parked at Ben Bhraggie then swift ascent to peak. Too many masts. Hurried down quickly. Company: Soloiandesbottes17/05/2016

Small parking area (2 cars) as you turn into Station Yard, Clovenfords at NT45071 36594 – Turned left along main road & then right into farm by silo – Immediate left & then right up transmitter service road which winds its way up the hill & ends a short distance from the summit. (PM)gerrybowes11/12/2015
Self, Peter and dog. No view to east because of conifers.Invicta1421/10/2015
From the roundabout in Clovenfords, heading NE, parked in Station Yard (first left). Walked across the road and, walked NE then through the farmyard to the track up Meigle Hill. Was advised upon my return to the farmyard that this was not the correct access to the hill.aul-fogie13/08/2015

Lovely walk via Caddon Foot, very steep decent!Phillipjulie29/04/2015
From Clovenfords village. Followed track and onto service road for the mast to the summit. Then descended to Blakehope hill and followed drystone dyke round Mossilee hill to cairn. Dropped down onto the Southern Upland Way and into Galashiels. Bright and sunny but cold in wind. Rain and hail showers round about but not on me!munromurph11/04/2015

after Sell Moor Hill. Parked in Clovenfords - Station Way I think. then followed waymarked path, though there isn't a sign at the farm gate. Would have been very easy stroll but for the storm and driving rain. Weather so bad I didn't do the HuMP opposite.Thearlaichdubh27/12/2013
Sunny, calm, mild, good views.iangalbraith01/12/2013
