Solo. Parked in Upton Pyne. Short walk to the path near the NW corner of New Wood. Followed that up then left along the field edge (due to private signs on path). Very wet and muddy. Bit of rough ground to cross to get to the high point. If you're put off by a few GOML signs, then might be better to approach via the permissive path along the NE edge of the wood. | MickyRoss | 29/12/2023 |
Parked in Upton Pyne then along road to FP, then SW along field edge to go into woods. HP seemed to be NNE of pheasant enclosure. Followed track north to descend back to road. | PeterD | 03/03/2023 |
1/2 As a circuit from Exeter with Will. Approached across field from Upton Pyne Hill road. Summit covered with dense bushes. Also visited the 99m spot height in New Wood. Descended down valley to the south to reach Stafford Bridge, although tricky in places due to fallen trees and electric fences blocking path. | millionmts | 10/04/2021 |
Parked in new housing on entry to Upton Pyne then easily up muddy track to summit complex. | Mark Sims | 07/12/2018 |
From N, tracks, level woodland, HP near pheasant pen water tank, or thereabouts | RHW | 16/06/2018 |
Lovely walk through the woods. Parked on Burridge Road | Poolton123 | 14/10/2015 |
Visited as part of 15km trip starting from Great Western hotel nr Exeter St. Davids Station. Took Exe valley way North, veered off on fp following short stretch of River Culm. Reached Upton Pyne Hill road. Followed for about 300 metres, climbed bank and waded through cornfield to Wood edge. Picked a way through brambles and gps read 105m @one point. Summit is close to forest track running through wood. I continued to edge close to reservoir and followed forest track to eventually emerge onto Burridge road | Dazingdale | 01/12/2013 |
