Bay Islands Voyages RIB trip from Weston Super Mare. 20 Min journey. 12 hours on island as have to wait for the next high tide. Trig near HP. Via steps/ path through brambles from coastal Path beyond Victorian Barracks with tea shop. Noisy swooping gulls. Interesting Victorian and world war 2 gun emplacements and underground stores to explore. Bring a good book to read too .Denise 21/07/2023
Ridge line E of trig pillar is much the same level as ground around the trig pillar and consists of limestone rubble which has the feel of being disturbed ground. Day trip from Weston-super-Mare.RichardM21/07/2023
Bay Island Voyages RIB from Weston-super-Mare, with Minto. 12 hours on the island gave us plenty of time to explore it fully, find 3 Geocaches and enjoy a few bottles of ale in the cafe. As well as the highest point, we also visited the lowest - the very end of the shingle spit which is uncovered at low tide.Tony J06/07/2023
With Tony J. An excellent, if long, day trip. Got quite wet coming back. Old gun batterys, underground ammunition stores and inclined traways made for interesting viewing.Minto06/07/2023
Still recovering from a dose of covid, so found the initial haul up the zigzag path an ordeal. However, then there's 11 hours to recover.Martin R16/07/2022
From Knightstone Island (summit of which visited with MR 15/07/2022), spent an enjoyable day on the Island. Visitor centre, snacks, drinks, books & tasteful souvenirs on sale. sixth time lucky attempting to cross over to Steep Holm. Failed all the other times with my late father who was from WSM. Saw a muntjac deer & hummingbird moth. This was for you Dad. With MR.CJM16/07/2022
Seagull Guano convered trig, but delighted to be on Steep Holm at last... Fourth time lucky after three windy weather cancellations in 2018/19. Original shallow letter plug. Repainted it, but needn't have brought paint as the volunteer custodians could've provided it plus power washer. Though it looks like years since last paint they say it's not now much more than 2-3 years. Gulls will muck it up again pretty quickly. Surprisingly overthrown and scruffy island with rotting ugly concrete gun defences from the war. Path routes mowed by the Kenneth Alsop Trust volunteers.vegibagger27/07/2021
Visited from Cardiff with Bay Island Voyages. Its a long day - you get 12 hours on the island, plenty of time to see everything half a dozen times. Lots of protective gulls at this time of year but none fancied pinching my hat.Father Ted11/07/2021
From WSM. Great views of Flat Holm and S Wales coastline. Almost 11 hours on the island. Did several laps and drank a lot of coffee from the cafe. Incredibly, populated with around 40 Muntjac deer. Saw 3 of them and the odd seagull.Campbell Singer03/08/2019
Smashing weather for this interesting island - pleased to get on this last boat of the year especially as they have cancelled 30% in 2018.Chris Peart25/09/2018
Later in the season so seagulls a little less protective - go at the end of August if you want it without gulls!moylj125/07/2017
RIB from Weston. 12 hours on the island. My North Somerset completion and my 50th county/UA completion. The visit to the trig was challenging and unlike any other. Nesting season for the gulls meant they were very protective of their eggs and young just hatching. Good head cover was useful. Great views.PeterD28/05/2017
