From the parking area to the WSW along the row. Lovely walk. HP is just in the woods but went onto reservoir too as the fence was quite easy. | clivevilla | 24/01/2024 |
Off track in field, trig point removed. No view due to low cloud. | fnem | 04/12/2022 |

From the car park on B3501. Visited summit, alternative, and top of reservoir. Trig has been moved into the hedge a short way NW of summit. | PGCE | 05/12/2021 |
Up the lane past Freemantle farm to the caravan site near the top. Good wander around in the trees and scrub | Colin Crawford | 17/10/2021 |
White Hill - The Gallops circular walk | Basingstone | 11/05/2021 |
From the car park on B3501. Watership Down, Ladle hill following Wayfarers Walk. Plenty of people about taking advantage of a break in the rain and the allowed amount of exercise during lockdown 2. Back to the car park and then to Cottington's hill in the rain trying to spot the trig. | Buck | 15/11/2020 |
From car park above B3051 summit. I followed the horseride, then path from the car park. This went through some access land and joined the RoW from the bottom of White Hill so gave a nice variation. Returned on RoW then Wayfarer's Way. Good views on a sunny day, continued along downs to Ladle Hill | pwheeler | 22/07/2020 |
Kingsclere and Hannington Walking Circular Walk | Basingstone | 16/06/2020 |
Surveyed. Summit not at DoBIH location. | Galltywenallt | 19/05/2020 |
Run: Cottington's Hill -> Caveley Hill -> Beacon Hill -> Sidown Hill -> Ladle Hill -> Watership Down. Did loop of reservoir fence. | maclrc | 01/03/2020 |

Walked up from White Hill car park bagging the moved and toppled trig on the way. | Dugswell2 | 03/09/2019 |
From the White Hill car park (free) I followed the RoW towards the summit. A gate gave access to the summit field and I also visited the wood to be sure. Walk continued to Watership Down. | Sprog | 20/02/2019 |
Walked up from White Hill car park. Agree natural high point is probably in wood but also did the reservoir for completion. | Ramblingpaul | 26/12/2018 |
Bump in trees seemed higher than field. Solo. (Walked up with Pete but he stayed on the path). Climbed onto the covered reservoir too, just for fun! | Dangerous Dave | 26/11/2018 |
Kingsclere (bus from Basingstoke) - Cottington's Hill - Watership Down - Ladle Hill - Beacon Hill - Sidown Hill - Caveley Hill - Kingsclere. | Mark Jackson | 20/10/2018 |
Then on to Wallingford to view my first FBM. Good job it was in a little railed enclosure, or I would never have found it. Completely overgrown with ivy, which I had to clear off with my walking pole, for a photograph. | ngthack | 17/08/2017 |
Climbed up from the White Hill car park - on our '25 Trig Points in a Day' half term challenge. | DanMaisieBex | 17/02/2017 |
Walked over from west of Watership Down on FP. High point in field and Trig moved into hedge. | PeterD | 13/11/2016 |
The very tall summit mast -Hannington Transmitter Station broadcasts BBC, ITV and radio. There is a baffling complex history of its various UHF frequencies which had to be chosen to avoid interference with European TV channels. At 151m tall its a useful yardstick for what a marilyn p150m prominence looks like. On this clustered summit by the reservoir is a small Certified Caravan Club site - one of 2,500 UK wide sites limited to 5 caravans -here a small field with water tap, electric and bins (and presumably a pretty good TV signal being under the transmitter?)
I found and managed to touch over the fence the moved trig in the thicket after going to high point in open field.Up and down by different paths from NW foot of hill. | Chris Pearson | 12/10/2016 |
From high point on B3051. With TJB. | trimarc2 | 08/07/2016 |
Walked up from Watership Down, just got to the top as the sun set. Walked back in the dark. Great fun. | DanMaisieBex | 17/09/2015 |
From Car Park to W, accidentally walked along new path along edge of access land, which was much more interesting than the return along row's. Kept on field for last 150m to hp, now planted with clover: no sign of trig. | GordonAdshead | 16/08/2015 |
Three Legged Cross to Kingsclere. | Smudge | 19/06/2015 |
Cottington's Hill, Watership Down and Ladle Hill from car park on B3051. | rhalstead | 15/03/2015 |
Walked up path from car park on the B3051. High point unmarked in arable field. If you visit, say hello to the poor trig, brutally attacked and now cowering in the field hedge. | RichardM | 11/01/2015 |
Visited whilst bagging the trig (which has been moved). Pleasant short walk over Stubbington Down from roadside car park to the W. | jonglew | 05/01/2014 |
Big car park to the west at White Hill on B3051. Busy today, but everyone else walking the opposite direction to us, onto Watership Down.
Good tracks and paths all way to reservoirs, then easy trespass over fence into field with highest point. Don't look for Trig as it has been removed from field and dumped into hedge by reservoir (sacrilege!). Great views to north. | Hillsidenick | 01/09/2013 |

Strictly speaking probably never visited the highest point but certainly walked the footpath just to the north when we lived in Kingsclere. Good enough for these purposes. | Herbert Anchovy | 01/06/2002 |
