Backpacking trip from Moffat over Hart Fell ridge to St Mary's Loch and return to Moffat via the Southern Upland Way. Past Blaebeck, track above Birnock Water and then steep climb to Swatte Fell. On to Falcon Crag, Hart Fell, Great Hill, Firthybrig Head, Lochcraig Head, Paper Hill, Muckle Knees, Craigdilly, Oxcleuch Rig. Diversion from Southern Upland Way to Peat Hill on return leg. Strong winds and some snow on highest hills to west of A708.RobertP12/02/2024
Anti-clockwise horseshoe with John From Talla Farm - up Erie Hill, Garelet Dod, Cape Law, down to the aptly named Rotten Bottom (deep sections of bog), then up to Firthhope Rig and up to White Coomb's summit. Back to Firthhope Rig, around to Lochcraig Head and tapped the cairn (realised later that's not the summit so need to go back for that Donald). Then headed back to Firthybrig Head then North to Molls Cleuch Dod (checked the summit location this time), then headed over Carlavin Hill and descended (*very* steeply) NE down to Games Hope Burn and followed the track back out to the car. 21km, 1300m of ascent - 6h 47min including a lunch stop near Lochcraig Head. Sunny but freezing winds up top.mproudfoot14/10/2023

Tough 19 mile circuit of Gameshope with White Coomb, Carrefran Gans, Lochcraig Head and Nickies Knowe added on. Wet first few hours, cleared up nicelyGary Heath14/10/2022
Parked at the bridge above Talla Linnfoots, walked up to the megget stone, then cut across the bog to ascend Nickies Knowe (had a wee lie down for 45mins due to the heat). Meet a guy from the Moffat Mountain Rescue on the summit, he turned back to descend the way we had both ascended. While I headed for Lochcraig Head, which had great views of Loch Skeen. Dropped to the west to then ascent Molls Cleuch Dod and dander along to Carlavin Hill. While descending back to the car, dark thunderous clouds appeared, but it stayed dry and no sigt of lighting.chillyman814/08/2022
From Meggethead up Dead for Cauld then along to Nickies Knowe and on to Lochcraig Head. Down and up to Firthybrig Head then out to Great Hill and back to Donald's Cleuch Head and on to Firthhope Rig and White Coomb. Out and back to Carrifran Gans then doubled back and out to Molls Cleuch Dod and Carlavin Hill before dropping back to road and the couple of miles of tarmac.SS27/03/2022

Parked at Grey Mare’s Tail NTS CP. SW along A708 to NT170128 (past a few parking spots). N up green lane (fence to climb), then deep ruts to join a newer main drag from Polmoodie and then R, upwards. L (NE) at NT173134 up wide grass and stone ATV track along lower edge of trees to its terminal, where grassy ATV track, faint at first, all the way to top of Carrifran Gans; continues to White Coomb. Firthhope Rig, Donald’s Cleuch Head, Firthybrig Head, boggy col to Lochcraig Head, good descent to mire E of Loch Skeen (churned into a morass by a peat restoration project), then the mega-swamp-on-a-slope dome of Watch Knowe. Fence, WSW, then ATV track leads to S end of Loch Skeen. Engineered path back to CPIsbjorn15/10/2021
From Cape Law. Made a direct approach from Cape Law to Donald's Cleuch Head. Easy angled slopes, but rough underfoot on south side of Ether Cleuch. KeithByTheC02/08/2021
Six tops east of Gameshope, as a follow-up to the previous weekend bagging those to the west. Room for two cars at cattle grid, at Megget Stone (and enough for ten more a short stroll west). Dion sank to knees in bog, two minutes in - but saved by gaiters! Straight up Nickies Knowe on good track, then on to Lochcraig Head (views!), Firthybrig Head. Decided to add in Great Hill, so we can skip it when doing White Comb. Turned back via Molls Cleuch Dod, and Carlavin Hill, before descending rough slope just west of Molls Cleuch gully. Should have returned to Molls Cleuch Dod and descended directly north as we spotted a good track there, after it was too late. Sun and wind. Great walk.Toby-and-Dion17/07/2021
From Grey Mare's Tail CP. Crossed Tail Burn at NT 1806 1515 and across rough ground to Upper Tarnberry -> White Coomb -> Carrifran Gans -> Frithhope Rig then across to here on good near-level ground. On to Lochcraig Head -> Mid Craig. Descended path on NE side Tail Burn for a pleasant 9.5mile round.jonglew27/05/2021

From Grey Mare's Tail car park on A708, along path on E side of Tail Burn past waterfalls, crossed burn at NT175157 and headed SW towards Rough Craigs, reaching a path beside a wall up through the Craigs and on to the summit of White Coomb, then NW to Firthhope Rig continuing NNE to Firthybrig Head, then NW to Molls Cleuch Dod, returning SE to col with Lochcraig Head, up following wall and fence, then a short distance N to its summit, continuing by wall first E, swinging S towards Loch Skeen, a poor track by wall, and then by a fence after the wall ends, then a short distance across to the main track back to Grey Mare's Tail car park from near the Loch Skeen outletkdbennett08/11/2020

Climbed as part of Martin66's final Donald walk. Also with J, JC, Otis, Harts & Hunts, left one car at the bridge near Carrifran, & parked the others at Grey Mare's Tail car park. Followed path up to Loch Skeen & then along the boggy lochside up to Lochcraig Head. The mist had descended by this point & stayed with us for the rest of the walk. On round to Firthybrig Head, an out & back to Molls Cleuch Dod for me on my own & then caught the others up by Donald's Cleuch Head, on to Firthhope Rig & White Coomb & finally Martin66's last Donald, Carrifrans Gans for a misty, cold & wet celebration. Down the very steep S ridge to the road & then waited while the other cars were retrieved. Back to Moffat for tea & medals (& beer).NotReallyABagger12/10/2013
