| Was in West Dean picking offspring up from his fathers so thought it rude not to visit a hill while I was here. I was last here 25 years ago, was always known as the Trundle and I never knew it was a hill fort! lol. | Solo from the Trundle Car park. Path to the top then down to the Triangle and on to Singleton. Lovely church in Singleton before heading to Levin Down. Wandered around the access land, some deer and plenty of cattle to be seen in the woods. Across to Court hill and the Trig point where plenty of deer were seen in the woods. | Early morning 3 hours to beat the heat.. 6.50 am start. 70 % max pulse threshold intervals for me whilst L forced herself to walk to fully recover from a germ. Highlight of the day however was 60 miles at Lords where the greatest game of cricket ever ? was unfolding - with England finally winning the World Cup against NZ on the last ball of the super-over. | On a 8.5 mile walk: Goodwood triangle (SU 879114: free parking)-East Dean- Court Hill- Levin Down- Singleton- triangle- HP, around hill fort- triangle. | Our regular 3 hr ramble enhanced by the company of our new friend - Barney the water loving dog who loves chasing stones into the Lavant Stream. Once again I’m nursing a torn calf muscle from an over zealous running training session -inspirationally led by a visiting guest England running coach. | 2 hr run from home with L and Barney the dog. Longer way up via the sheep field (and lamas). 56 mins to top. I jogged down for Barney to hunt stones in the stream whilst L did a few extra hill reps. Back home to tend to cut flaps of skin on hands from a careless ho ho plant on a protruding flint. | 7 hour outing from Chichester and back dog walking Betty as usual and first time borrowed Barney who required rescuing when he went all limp and motionless underwater chasing stones in the stream. A nasty fright for us (and wet shoes for me) but he seemed non the worse once lifted out. | Googwood Revival in full swing below with spitfires overhead and a wonderful mix of old and unusual cars clogging up the roads all around. We should really have worn our 1930s sturdy tweed rambling outfits to fit in. | Glorious Goodwood on a beautiful cloudless blue sky warm September morning, just when we thought we had lost the heatwave of summer 18. With L ran a 4 mile loop around the ' most beautiful racecourse in Britain' as they claim, Uphill start from Singleton,sweated out a lurgi. All calm here today but in 2 days will be heaving with mid week race meet, entry cost min £27 or £4000 + for a corporate box for 16 incl a meal. | 45 mins door to summit 3 mile run. Gentle jog to Lavant in 20 mins then moved up a gear with 40 sec interval training up the 'endless' chalk track. Hot and humid as it has been for weeks now. | One of @ 500 runners on the hugely popular and enjoyable 10k Trundle Hill run - weds eve from Lavant.L marshalled. I finished somewhere mid pack in 57 mins. Light rain but still hot. | Lovely sharp frosty morning 8 mile run from home with L .out to Lavant and up the chalk track then down via the sheep field. Nice low winter morning sun glinting off frozen puddles and lighting up the distant cliffs of the Isle of Wight. | Out of breath laughter racing 27 children up during a Goodwood farm geography trip. Carton of juice and a chocolate bar for all summiteers ensured a motivated ascent all round. Perfect warm sunny clear day for the children to see what a great view looked like . words such as peaceful, beautiful were offered by the youngsters and the best.
