From car park to SW, plenty of tracks and dog walkers. Trig well hidden and we to small reservoir, plus hill fort ramparts. | PeterD | 08/03/2024 |
Car parks with height barriers are discriminatory, antisocial and unfair. Met a NT worker doing a butterfly survey. Damson trees make a good deterrent on touching a trigpoint. | Martin R | 23/08/2023 |
From SW car park, lots of paths in mostly downland with a bit of scrub. Visited 3 possible highpoints- the highest spot on the rampart (best view) seemed higher than the spot height. Trig accessible from NE corner of open access. Fine sunny morning. | pwheeler | 11/02/2022 |
Parked in NT car park to SW. Visited reservoir and bunker, and my arm was just long enough to touch the trig through the thick vegetation. | PGCE | 11/07/2021 |
Actual summit of hill is abandoned reservoir in private tall grass field, behind barbed wire. Much better views than lower on Stockbridge Down. | freethehilltops | 19/06/2021 |
Stockbridge Hike (bagging Woolbury, Cleave Hill, Danebury Hill and Chattis Hill) | PhilipChaston | 03/04/2021 |
Car park to the SW at 37467 34680. Downland until near the summit within the hillfort ramparts where it was muddy paths through light woodland. | clivevilla | 23/02/2020 |
Flattish summit area within brambly enclosed thicket with ROC bunker, trig and concrete topped reservoir. Accessed from Stockbridge Down, free NT carpark and Common to SW. Clear bright day after Storm Dennis the day before. Good viewpoint. White horse not obvious; we did not see it, apparently S side of ramparts. | Denise | 17/02/2020 |
From free NT car park on wrong side of the busy road. Great chalk downland Common. SW summit in scruffy scrub woodland. NE summit in field of pasture guarded by multi-strand BWF and high point in fenced off area with ROC bunker, trig and water tank. | RichardM | 17/02/2020 |
From NT car park over pleasant downland and straight ahead on muddy path through wood, which suddenly opens up to summit fort area, which is annoyingly private. | Mark Sims | 03/10/2019 |
From NT car park, simple enough stroll until the unexpected high fence, Did as it appear others have... | rhalstead | 27/01/2019 |
From NT car park to the SE. Pleasant early summer stroll over the common. ROC bunker & reservoir also within the fenced off area. Did the 'other' summit too. | DanMaisieBex | 03/06/2018 |
A still frosty morning with a watery sun and a chill breeze - well wrapped up. From car park to SW. Fence to get to trig in summit copse(which also has a locked ROC underground bunker ) The multi channeled River Test down to the west is a prime trout fly fishing river and home of a club you can not join - the 'by invite only' Houghton Fishing club - established in 1822,it only has 25 members. | Chris Pearson | 05/12/2016 |
Walked up from Horsebridge good downland if approached from NT side need to climb over barbed wire fence there must be a gate somewhere as field had been harvested for hay. Never saw trig or white horse will have to do another visit | philhythe | 30/07/2016 |
From SW car park. Nice hill with great views on the way up and down. | Herbert Anchovy | 23/05/2016 |
IA univallate hill fort with white horse on S ramparts - only example in Hants. Good parking 1km to SE or SW. SW ramparts NT, remainder is private and whole 20 acre summit area fenced off, but easy to negotiate - necessary to bag the hill and attendant trig pillar. | jonglew | 06/05/2014 |
ordinary summit, pleasant albeit scrubby hillfort. from car pk to SW, cross small arable fld to TP | RHW | 19/10/2002 |
