Brinkworth to Wootton Bassett. | Smudge | 09/12/2022 |
No bee stings and avoided the dangerous trigpoint. Did a circuit tour from Frith Stables. | Martin R | 10/10/2022 |
ROW from NW, then over several gates to complete a circuit of the well-defended reservoir. | PGCE | 25/05/2021 |
Walked around the fence to given GR. I am not a trig bagger and there was no obvious weakness in the fence so did not visit it. | clivevilla | 17/11/2020 |
From N up track, around compound & back. Trig in compound. | fosal29 | 05/07/2020 |
Service track from N. Walked round reservoir, took reading on S side. Didn't visit trig, two wet 'underneath' entry points but would have got very dirty in process! | Aye Jimmy | 14/04/2019 |
Simple stroll on fp from village hall where a lathe exhibition was in full turn. Glad I was not casually peering through the window a week later, when the local vets are attending to show how to dissect a horse leg!! Even the advert warns it is not for the faint hearted. (I once watched transfixed on TV the same gruesome act being done to a kangaroo leg to explain its bounce power). Hope they close the curtains to preserve the sensitivities of passing tump baggers. At summit compound wondered if I could squirm under the gate to reach the trig if I stripped off. Thought better of it in case I got stuck and ended up on a fire brigade -unusual incidents - video. As for explaining it away I would not have a leg to stand on (just like the horse) | Chris Pearson | 17/03/2019 |
Parked in village hall cp. Took the fp from behind the village hall. Big mistake. Quickly ran out of fp and had to clamber over two bwfs. Wandered round reservoir perimeter and witnessed the trig. Chased by cattle on way out. Bit of a disaster really. | Campbell Singer | 13/12/2018 |
From north. Reservoir wholly fenced in. Trig viewed from east edge. A job which needed LadderBaggerMan but sadly he was Ladderless. | vegibagger | 14/02/2018 |
Parked at bottom of access lane. Opted out of bagging trig due to weather. | Ramblingpaul | 26/12/2017 |
Via mast access track. | Chris Peart | 12/10/2017 |
Parked at start of access track, short diversion from path to HP. | rhalstead | 02/07/2017 |
Path from Hook village hall. Natural high point on S fence line of Res. enclosure. Great views and sunset. | RichardM | 18/01/2017 |
Parked at the start of the Water Company's access track & walked to the S side of the reservoir compound via fields to the W. Bagged the trig as well, just of good measure. | DanMaisieBex | 02/09/2016 |
Via the mast track from the NE. | jimbloomer | 31/05/2016 |
Up the resv track. One extra point, having completed Swindon, before driving back home to Manchester | GordonAdshead | 08/08/2015 |
Walked up access track to the gate and then went through wood into next field. Rather awkward locating top by this route due to various hedges that needed to be negotiated and I didn't enter compound. | Herbert Anchovy | 02/07/2015 |
From FP to North and then to natural HP | PeterD | 30/05/2015 |
PROW passes by the covered reservoir compound which is on the highest point of the hill. | Swindon Bagger | 18/05/2015 |
highest ground inside water board compound, trig on top of covered reservoir | Adrian | 23/02/2014 |
Not a great hill. But at least near to home in Swindon.
Parked at Hook village hall and followed fp to NW. When reach farm track by mast, turn right and short easy trespass into field will take you to the reservoir with Trig on top. Highest ground somewhere around base of reservoir. | Hillsidenick | 16/07/2013 |
Visited whilst bagging the trig on top of the water company's covered reservoir. Parking ok at start of the access road to N; compound access a little more difficult but achievable. | jonglew | 11/10/2012 |
Date is first visit. Notes from later...mundane village-edge location, TP in fenced resr compound seen not accessed, natural high point SW corner of resr base. fenced resr compound | RHW | 23/09/2002 |
