Parked in layby at 46459 72162, through a few yards of woodland, over a bwf and hp is at field edge. There are two mounds right next to hp but they are man made. Went up them anyway.clivevilla24/01/2024
Walking back to Shefford Woodlands from Donnington Castle, I diverted to bag this tump. Used both footpaths for personal satisfaction. Pub in Winterbourne is now closed.PhilipChaston01/10/2023

Footpath from NW then horsey fields. Would have been much simpler and quicker from road to east!Aye Jimmy08/10/2022

Parked in layby on B4494 near track to Snelsmore Farm. Walked SW along road to ROW, then along edge of field. Returned direct through woodland.PGCE30/10/2020
Most problematic of the 4 Tumps just N of Newbury today. Approached from B4494 by Pebble La but set dogs barking as I got to Paddock gate. Retreated, then approached from Winterbourne. Pebble La is pleasant here, with views as it climbed. A field path, one of many PRoWs in the area, gave access to a gate where I was able to get access to the water tower/paddock. Encountered 2 trees on the common blown down in last 24h, the first right across a minor lane.pwheeler25/09/2020

3rd of 4 tumps on a traverse from Hermitage to Wickham Heath, climbing Grimsbury Castle and Snelsmore East Common, continuing West on track and dropping down onto road turning NE on lane then on bridleway detouring to visit Bussock camp fort embankments- lovely place. Continued on road to visit 148m spot then into paddock although highest point is artificial. Hawthorn hedge was highest inside copse. Continued via open access woodland to road then took fp heading Nw and explored RHW summit, access via gap at SU46078 72088, to visit pasture in paddock and under electrified fence in churned up field with a Shetland pony for company. Continuation to Hoar Hill...Dazingdale21/03/2020

Betjeman's wonderful poem -Indoor games near Newbury -celebrates this area : ...In among the silver birches, winding ways of tarmac wander. And the signs to Bussock Bottom,Tussock Wood and Windy Brea. Gabled lodges, tile-hung churches, catch the lights of our Lagonda, As we drive to Wendy's party, Lemon curd and christmass cake. Where is Wendy? Wendy's missing! - (gone hill bagging perhaps to play outdoor games near Newbury?)Chris Pearson25/05/2016
Parked at start of track to SE and followed it until I reached the first paddock. Headed for the water tower and then went beyond that, passing through two gates to another paddock which seemed higher than anywhere else I could see.Herbert Anchovy16/05/2016

Parked at start of BW. Short walk and also thought track leaving BW rose to same height as pasture. Although close to the water tower seemed to be a similar heightPeterD17/08/2015
Found Snelsmore too well defended in the late Sunday afternoon, so went on to Bussock hill. Parked to SE. Felt that hp was a little way along track doubling back SEGordonAdshead16/08/2015
