Parked at Bentley Station. Sunday: only three cars in vast parking area: no way of waying. Went up main track. but descended by quicker track via the meadow.GordonAdshead23/06/2019
1 hour round of this hill and River Hill from Bentley station, between trains. Highest point seems to be a brackeny, brushy mound just to the N of the track.Mark Jackson20/04/2019
Visited HP on a pleasant walk from Bentley Station, which included this part of Alice Holt, Home Hanger, River Hill and Catham Copse on a warm sunny day with very clear views. Visiting candidate HPs here was the worst bit of a 6 mile walk, using ROWs except to bag the HPspwheeler26/09/2018

Bentley to Alton. Nothing particularly distinguishable around the mapped 128m spot height however there's a mound (brambles etc. & probably man made) just N of the track at SU7972042640.Smudge30/09/2016
Lovely spring day, glorious birdsong made up for boggy going in places.RocksRock12/04/2016
Site of one of the UK's 3 Forestry Commission research stations, investigating worldly issues such as how woodlands can be adapted to help mitigate global warming by carbon capture. Forest hydrology and soil conservation feature in their work as do grey squirrels(under pests) and the socio-economic aspects of woodland. For a break from such academic endeavour the scientists are conveniently close to the 'Go Ape' high ropes course in the same forest. Alternatively they can visit Penguin Island at Birdworld opened by Johnny Morris in 1984 and try to match his voice-overs.Chris Pearson20/09/2015

Mrs Anchovy used to work for Forest Research at Alice Holt. Visited the Lodge many times and walked most of the woods at one time or another. Perhaps not been to the precise high point but it's flatish and I know I've been close. Date approx.Herbert Anchovy01/01/2001
