Newhaven to Eastbourne coast path walk | fosal29 | 01/08/2023 |
From small pay and display car park to NNW. Sadly the pay machine was broken. I was treated to a brief aerial display by a Spitfire. I've never seen one before, but what an unmistakable engine sound. | Minto | 01/07/2023 |
Whilst waiting for participants to arrive on a Macmillan Mighty Hike. | Wheelsy | 11/06/2023 |
Lovely walk from Birling Gap NT car park to Beachy Head and back. Wooden fence on W side of concrete base at the lighthouse broken at cliff edge, so easy to just step across to hp. Tea shop concession below concrete base, next to lighthouse B&B. | richard69 | 08/10/2022 |
The car park was coned off so I had to verge park and rush up. HP is fenced off and quite near the edge but nobody was around. | clivevilla | 06/09/2022 |
I would have nipped over the wooden fence if it hadn't been so busy so instead simply stood on the lowest rail to at least claim by the head height rule. Give it a few years and the former lighthouse base will be at the foot of the cliffs rather than at the top. | milimana | 17/06/2022 |
With Philippa out an back from Eastbourne train station, via Beachy Head. Very windy. Spitfire flew by presumably preparing for the Jubilee | trimarc2 | 26/05/2022 |
Very windy day. Walked from Eastbourne Station with David | r1 | 26/05/2022 |
Short out and back whilst walking coast path from Seaford to Eastbourne into a brutal headwind. Not many people out today, so free to reach the summit. Cliffs are terrifyingly close to the lighthouse, don't think it'll be long before this hill is a bit lower! | wheresthepath | 11/04/2022 |
With Jo, linear walk from Exceat to Beachy Head. Weather: sunny intervals, cold wind, good visibility. | amblerbob | 03/04/2022 |
From car park to east, up to lighthouse and quick hop over fence to HP. Thought I may have done it before during Seven Sisters Marathon, but I hadn’t been to top, so glad I returned. | PeterD | 20/01/2022 |
Parked at Friston: circular of Belle Tout and Willingdon Hill on a very windy day. Vicious weather. | PhilipChaston | 28/12/2021 |

A short evening cycle from Eastbourne YHA. Superb cliff top views. Grass around remains of small cliff top building, chalk crumbling away at cliff edge. | RichardM | 03/05/2018 |
From parking area to E. HP very close to the cliff top and is in immenent danger of being relocated after a winter storm in the next year or 2! | jonglew | 17/04/2018 |
Bagged on a good circuit from Alfriston, over Wilmington, Willingdon, Beachy Head and Seven Sisters. Tea and fizzy pop at the cafe was very welcome, given the blistering heat. | Gill | 05/07/2017 |
walked from Alfriston, south downs way | davie | 15/01/2017 |

Part of Seven Sisters? | clique | 01/01/2016 |
East Dean circular. Summit fencing now suffering from recent wind damage enabled simple access to the HP I'd declined to visit in front of B&B onlookers during my last visit. | Smudge | 31/12/2015 |
Eastbourne, BeachyHead and Seven sisters | Sixtyplus | 17/07/2015 |
Clifftop by base of former lighthouse in front of new replacement. Low protective fence the only obstacle | RHW | 27/06/2015 |
South Downs Way | windridge | 09/05/2015 |
A great spot late on a winter's afternoon with the weak sun sinking towards the sea. I was deterred from vaulting the wall or fence due to keep out notices and people in the buildings who began to watch me as I studied the top which is possibly man made as its got brick underneath, and will soon fall over the all too close edge no doubt? In 1999 the lighthouse / buildings were jacked up and floated on grease 17 metres inland at a cost of £250,000 for the private owner (see Youtube), The Belle Tout Lighthouse and buildings are now a luxury B& B (£165 night). It was famously used for filming the BBC Life & Loves of a She Devil. | Chris Pearson | 26/01/2015 |
Bagged on 4th attempt over the years. Now accessible over wooden fence. | Adrian | 20/12/2014 |
