9th top of 11 today climbing Penmynydd, Bron Alar, Cefncwmwd, Bryn-teg, Bryn Carmel, Pen Y Foel Barclodiau and Mynydd Bodafon taking a fp to reach the road to the Sw then pushing through dense bracken to climb over heather and outcrops to the top. Continuation Sw over Pen Y Castell then over a fence and dense bracken to reach the road leading back to the car. Onwards to Sotherby Top...Dazingdale17/07/2019
P by bench by pond. Track E and N. Path up from E fades out short of outcrops.chrisbien16/04/2019
Quick evening round of the three hills here with my brother, from a layby near the lake. Couldn't see a path up this one, slogged up through heather and bracken from Mynnydd Bodafon, another bash through undergrowth to escape down the track by the lake. Can imagine this would be very difficult when the plants are higher in the summer.wheresthepath14/04/2019
Continuation from Mynydd Bodafon, this one a bit harder on the legs due to the gorse & lack of a path...DanMaisieBex13/04/2019
Not as easy as the other two- bit of a thrash from the track between it and Bodafan.Mark Sims14/11/2018
After Marilyn. Despite rough going it is a straight up and downtrimarc214/12/2017
Challenged by GOML to SW. Used track from small car park to SE following outer edge of open access area to field to NE and FP. Climbed rocky outcrop from SH468853 - could be difficult in summer due to bracken and brambles.carole engel03/12/2017

Back in long trousers and jumper.vegibagger13/06/2017
Turned right from carpark and at the 2nd telegraph pole took obvious path left through dead bracken to reach rock and heather. Not too bad after that, though we descended S from the top through a lot worse which would be impossible in summer.milimana01/03/2017
All 3 summits of Mynydd BadafonJamesD197217/02/2017
Parked on the road to east of the pond then a bit of bracken bashing to get to the summit before sunset.Dugswell225/01/2017
Missed the newish car park at SH 47022 85215 so parked on roadside verge at junction road/track. Awkward access but eventually got onto the rock at SH 46982 85398, after which an easy walk up to top. Crossed over to Pen y Castell as it looked higher - but clearly isn't. So why isn't the NE Top just called Pen y Castell and Pen y Castell called Pen y Castell SW Top. Things to ponder when unable to climb rocky little tops and wade through gorse and fern!jonglew18/09/2015
Parked by track south east of lake (GR468853)to Mynydd Bodafon, then easy descent followed by bracken, heather and rock both to and from Pen y Castell NE Top (although not too bad at this time of year, returning to car then Barclodia.ijpowell12/06/2015
As RHW, from house road running N from new car park at foot of Yr Arwidd. No problem once you reach rocks.GordonAdshead22/04/2015
Small car park just off road, short hop through bracken then easy going over rocks and grass.Craig6712/02/2015
From E, short bracken/bramble 'moat' then easy going. On to W top (SH 46707 85232: 169m on 1:10k and does indeed look c.1m lower insitu) then S down track and back to car park.RHW07/09/2014
No paths, very rough underfoot.Adrian25/08/2014
On a tour of Sir Ynys Mon bumps. From P at SH470852. Traversed the ridge but at the col (SH467852) just below the highest point I was attacked by a gang of small bees - stung numerous times - managed to gain the top but couldn't linger.summitsup16/06/2014
After Yr Arwydd, already wet so bagged the other two ThUMPs. Be better when you could look up and see a view!nordicstar14/12/2013
Brynrefail circular. Rough going with houses not far below.Smudge29/11/2013
Small car park just off the road at SH 47026 85235. Walked north up track to a telegraph pole at SH 46998 85394 then dived into the head high bracken (a late winter ascent would have been better). Once through this there is waist high heather before reaching a section of bare rock. Another wallow through the bracken will take you to the summit rocky stuff. A large rounded slab of bare rock at SH 46822 85331 is the highest point which is actually just north of the tiny 170m contour ring.David Gradwell10/07/2010
