An epic frantic row across the 20 foot channel in a child's dinghy in a heavy swell - as soon as I pushed off a paddle broke, and I spun round and round in circles out of control whilst belayed from the shore ,rope all tangled, got soaked, but somehow with frantic rowing made it across ! The actual climb with Steve was hugely enjoyable and great fun. We reached the top to polite clapping from some passing walkers on the cliff. After shaking hands in the finest tradition we abseiled down off a lot of vintage tat (added our own). We had left a rope strung across the channel on which we did our first ever tyrolean traverse (with a retrievable rope system) to avoid the 'dinghy crossing' option - too much stretch in the climbing rope only just kept us out of the frothing sea. An adventurous day out!Chris Pearson15/04/1988
