Arrived early Saturday morning & easy street parking on Moor Lane to E. - Restoration work on the keep taking place & access gate from museum & cafe area locked - Back down to footpath in park & start of steps up to keep - Around wire mesh barrier, up steps & around a couple more barriers to high point against NW wall. | gerrybowes | 09/03/2024 |
2 of 2 from Edison road car park. Back down to river from waddow then up towards cemetery. Through there then through residential streets before meeting main road then up through the castle. | The-Z-Man | 29/09/2023 |
Solo. Whilst waiting for car service & MOT. | ADT | 21/06/2023 |
With Mart after swimming in river Ribble and visiting Waddow Hill. Luckily found a free parking spot then sauntered up to and circumnavigated, castle. Superb views. | John Eley | 23/04/2023 |
Stroll up the parkland paths to the summit - quite a drop off the North West corner but lucky there is a very comprehensive barrier. A more interesting visit than I expected, nice bit of history to be read about the little bit of Parliament on the monument to the South East of the summit. | nickywood1 | 09/04/2023 |
Walked from Holmes Mill to HP following the path most obviously leading uphill at every turn. A gravel track led down more directly. The situation is very fine- views from the castle keep are excellent making the drop seem far more than 34 m. Pete and I thought Clitheroe was a very good town to visit generally. Not to be missed- town and Tump! | pwheeler | 22/03/2023 |
Took in Clitheroe Castle Hill and the whole of Pendle Hill on Day 5 of our C2C from Clitheroe to Barley with Annette, Chris, Christine, Eric, Geoff, and Steve. Cold but with extensive views from top of Pendle Hill. Altogether 16km with 600m ascent taking 5h 50m. | silverwolf_alan | 02/03/2023 |
Really beautiful castle with great views. Wander round on a dull November Sunday morning. | Lazylizzie | 27/11/2022 |
Really nice little castle. Great view. | HardenC | 28/10/2022 |
6/6 in the area around Clitheroe, visiting Worsaw Hill, The Ridge, Waddow Hill, Beacon Hill, Marl Hill Moor, and Clitheroe Castle Hill. Final summit of the day, with a good view of the last glimmer of daylight from the unusual but splendid summit that the castle's keep gives one. (S) | silveracorn_alan | 17/01/2022 |

Nice to see this down as a TuMP. Took it in on an after-dinner walk around the town. A smashing little castle and free and open in the evenings. | Father Ted | 10/08/2021 |

Plenty of adjacent car parking (£1.40 for 4 hours). Steps after entrance gate lead right up to the summit which I agree, is at the base of the small downward flight of steps. | moorsman | 20/10/2018 |
Easy walk up from the main road | colinfielding | 15/10/2018 |

2nd hill of the day, after Top O' Cow in Bolton U/A.
Lesley and I visited the Castle after finding somewhere to park in town. Many of the car parks say Short stay but aren't, others allow only 1 1/2 hours.
We walked upto the castle and inside the keep and I made sure I investigated the highest ground around the edges to bag the top. Nice views of the surrounding countryside. We then visited the cafe and museum before continuing to visit Gawthorpe Hall. | Dazingdale | 14/10/2017 |
Easy bag. Good viewpoint | trimarc2 | 12/09/2017 |

Longridge Fell, Clitheroe Castle Hill | keithouk | 18/12/2016 |
I reckon the summit is the grass against the keep wall, after you've gone down the short flight of steps on the left, just before the keep entrance. | ngthack | 01/05/2016 |
Path from ne. Parking on street Sat am before 9, arrived just in time. Nice sunny am | RHW | 05/03/2016 |
With Jo, from Clitheroe Interchange: across Brungerley Bridge to Waddow Hill (agree with AJ re high point, but visited other likely tops), and then back to Clitheroe Castle Hill. Weather; sunny at first, dull later, good visibility throughout. | amblerbob | 16/02/2016 |
End of a Sunday walk from Ramsgreave/Langho - good views over the roof-tops although low cloud meant Horrocksford cement works only just visible. | JOHNS | 18/10/2015 |
A Tump with history and good views in a smashing town. | catman | 19/01/2015 |
Climbed while shopping in Clitheroe, on a weekend Tesco voucher break at the Higher Trapp Hotel near Sabden. | Man of Kernow1 | 22/11/2014 |
A clear cut mark on the north west face of the keep. The mark is recorded on the 1849 Town Plans levelled at 385.5 feet. See http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2435721 .
This equals 117.5 metres and is 1.1 metres above the ground in data base giving height of 116.1 metres. Ground either side of steps to gain rampart looks highest = either grass or soil. | Dugswell2 | 26/10/2014 |
