First of a great succession of tops passed by on my way down from Hart Fell. Top class long range views to be had and this certainly is a location well worthy of coming back to for future visits.Alex C16/02/2024

PMC Day Meet, with Dave Scott: Had planned on doing the standard Hart Fell circuit around Blackhope Burn, but there signs on the A708 saying road closed. So prked on the A701 at the forestry gate north of the Devil's Beef Tub layby. Headed up Annanhead Hill, Chalk Rig Edge, then along to Whitehope Heights and Whitehope Knowe, dropped down then ascended up to Hart Fell, for 1pm three hours after starting. Descended down a boggy atv track over Arthur's Seat and down to Eirkstane Farm, ten followed the Annandale Way back to the car. Windy, but mainly dry and overcast.chillyman813/03/2022
Parked on the A701, followed the Annandale Way then up to Whitehope Heights, returned the same way. Light dusting of snow on Friday, was almost fully melted by the time I got there on Saturday afternoon. Cold northern wind, but blue skies all day.chillyman805/03/2022

Third of a round from the beeftub - clearing all the tops to the north. Some large bogs just before crown of Scotland. Saw tens of thousands of dead flies covering the ground near Earlshaugh - glad we weren’t there a day earlier! Low cloud rolled over just as we finished.Toby-and-Dion22/08/2021
From Great Hill. Good path, initially steep by Spout Craig. Summit just through gate in deer fence near summit. KeithByTheC04/08/2021
Parking on A701 at NT 0553 1274. Took Annandale Way until it headed due S then continued on the county border to Whitehope Knowe then headed N: Annanhead Hill trig pillar -> Great Hill -> Chalk Rig Edge -> Whitehope Heights & Knowe -> Ballman Hill -> Barncorse Hill -> Crown of Scotland -> Foel Burn Head. Pleasant 15km round despite all the hills in cloud.jonglew30/03/2021
Along route to Hart Fell from Beef Tub. With H.harristhedog01/03/2021
From the community centre south of Newton, then northwards along the Annandale Way. Lost the path higher up the hill but a fortuitous stone then grass track took us directly to Pt.565 east of Spout Craig. The two Whitehope tops were surmounted easily enough, before a drop and steep climb up the NW face of Hart Fell. Falcon Crag, Swatte Fell and Nether Coomb Craig were quickly bagged on a gin-clear windless morning, returning to Swatte Fell for an easy descent on an ATV track back to the community centre via Blue Cairn and Mountainblow. Fab walk. About 4hrs.summitter27/09/2020
From Devil's Beef Tub along Annandale Way, then straight up to summit.the pigguy 13/09/2020

A day of frost and sunshine before Storm Chiara arrives. Parked near the entrance to the Annandale Way from the A701 and followed the ridge over Great Hill, Chalk Rig Edge, Whitehope Heights and Whitehope Knowe before striking off in an anticlockwise loop over Whaup Knowe, Ballaman Hill, Barncorse Knowe and Crown of Scotland, rejoining the ridge towards the east end of Chalk Rig Edge. The cairn on Whitehope Heights is surrounded by a ring of carefully placed tiny satellite cairns, an arrangement I can't recall seeing on any other summit.Nick Down107/02/2020
Fantastic frost and sunshine. Circular walk from west along undulating ridge to Whitehope Heights, then around to north via all tops on the way. With the two spaniels, R, Mike and Mandy.jenx30/11/2019
Few minor hints: there's a car park at NT07231128, if just doing this one. There's a track up Cocklaw Knowe from Broard Tae and also up Scaw'd Law from Newton.Belfarm 08/11/2019
Parked at track entrance off A701 above Devil's Beef Tub. Walked over Annandale Hill, then on to Great Hill and Chalk Rig Edge, one of the best ridge walks in the area and the only one where we saw anyone this week. We continued our walk to Whitehope Heights and returned via Foal Burn Head. Good views in fine weather. With brother, Petepwheeler18/09/2019
Small stone cairn with satellites. Accessed through gate in fence nearby. Along ridge, starting at road to east, then back via Foal Burn HeadDenise 05/07/2019
Parked in wide entrance to forest track at NT 05536 12720 & up Foal Burn Head, Great Hill & Chalk Rig Head. From Chalk Rig Head, continued along Annandale Way to cairn in col & then up a decent path/track to pedestrian gate in deer fence, just below the summit cairn. Annandale Way back to car. Having turned back the previous day on the ridge from the Beef Tub due to bad weather, I decided to ascend from Ericstane. This was a mistake as the area is now part of the Border Forest - a commendable project but the mapped path no longer exists. Decided to head up to Cocklaw Knowe after crossing two deer fences and numerous ditches. From here there is an old estate track to the summit, which I reached just ahead of the rain. Returned via the path from Spout Crag - now part of the Annandale Way - which comes out on the road south of Corehead, where there is a carpark and leaflets with a map showing the new paths.JohnW30/05/2019
Circuit out from end of forest track, Annanhead hill, Chalk Rig Edge, Whitehope Heights, Whitehope Knowe, Barncorse Knowe, Crown of Scotland & Foal Burn Head. Retuning down forest track. Improved weather, clear but a bitter cold wind.Mountain Goat27/01/2019
A memorable day during a New Year Borders week. A crisp, clear, cold (-5 at the start) & sunny day with Shaky & Smithy, we dropped one car at Talla Linnfoots & drove the other to the layby on A701 at the Devil's Beef Tub. Followed the usual route up to Whitehope Heights then over Whitehope Knowe & up to Hart Fell. Onwards over Hartfell Rig & then turning N to switchback over Cape Law, Din Law, Ellers Cleuch Rig, Garelet Dod, a sharp pull on to Erie Hill & then on to Lairds Cleuch Rig to finish at the trig on Garelet Hill just in time for a truly stunning sunset. The SMC guide calls the ascent of Garelet Hill from the loch to the E 'brutal but satisfying'. In descent, it's just brutal although there is a faint path on the left side to help. A magnificent walk in perfect winter weather & highly recommended!NotReallyABagger02/01/2019

Round of 4 Donalds anticlockwise from bridge over Blackhope Burn. Contoured round N slopes of Hart Fell from Cape Law. Mostly easy ground and dry underfoot.AndrewFinnimore23/05/2018
KHWC walk: JNH,EH, MB, D&MC, GM, DB with me on repeat of my first visit on 01/07/2015. Cloudy and misty start from A701, with wet and boggy terrain and remaining large patches of snow. Lunched on summit as mist began to lift; summit stile has been replaced by an inclined gate. Met three other (one DoE supervisor and a couple, ascending) walkers as we descended. Rain came on as we approached cars, as forecast. Third visit was solo, on 06/10/2021, on a grand autumnal day with blue skies, clouding later; met around two dozen walkers (club?) coming W on ridge path and two pairs going E - probably all on Annandale Way + two individuals on Annandhead Hill and at P.jacobus07/04/2018
Nice leaning gate just before summit cairn. Solo.Dangerous Dave10/12/2017
From above Devil's Beef Tub on a big clockwise circuit over Chalk Rig Edge, Whitehope Heights, Hart Fell, Falcon Craig, out an back to Nether Coombe Craig and finally Swatte Fell. Returned by way of Ericstane and the westerly branch of the Annandale Way. Very wet underfoot.SS30/09/2017

My penultimate Donald. Done from the A701 by following the Annandale Way. A day of heavy sleet showers driven by strong wind. Yet another great day in the Borders area, I just love the lack of crowds. I take my hat off to Colin Crawford for his fourth round of the Donalds a great achievement he must truly love this part of the country, as do I!thenomad16/11/2016
