Along wind turbine tracks from main entrance past switch roomcjo06/08/2023
From main enterance to Wharrels Wind Farm on A595. With LottyDave21/06/2023
Parked at entrance to wind farm, up track initially then across field to flat top. Also went to trig over other side of the main road.PeterD21/04/2023
Oodles of parking at wind farm entrance gate NY 172379. Sign welcomes pedestrian visitors to the countryside. Outbound E on S track, L over high point and inbound W on N track. Also walked up access track to mast array and an easy step over low wall to trig point at NY 172382, to be sure.Isbjorn03/01/2022
Through main gate to windfarm. Then followed tracks and finally thick wet grass to flat summit.Alan Caine10/07/2021
6 years back I visited trig S5709 across the road and afterwards was rather dismayed to find that it wasn't the top TuMP summit which I also thought it was but the tump summit was in the wind farm across the road about 4/500m away and 1m higher.. note that I also thought it might be my 1000th pillar.. well now I'm up to 1850 something, so it seemed fitting to come to visit pillar too and say hello again a second time as geeks do.vegibagger22/05/2021
With Andy from layby through the gate and up the pathcolinfielding15/04/2021
Parked in layby and walked up the access road for the wind farm, before heading for the top. With Colin.Andrew Pearson15/04/2021
Wharrels Hill > Wharrels Hill trig S5709 from GR: NY 17181 37959. Took the opportunity to visit the trig, historically would have been an excellent viewpoint before the mobile mast installation.ronaldo33322/12/2020

As mentioned by everyone else, park at gate and follow track. Featurless summit on the grass. Great view over to Skiddaw etcHavenchris31/08/2020
Whilst passing, travelling from home to BaggerRambles at Slaidburn.Minto22/11/2019
While walking up track from W a van came steaming up behind and driver claimed this was private land. We pointed out that the sign at the entrance said Visitors Welcome and he relented. We think he was a contractor repairing one of the windmills and just wanted to keep us away from the site of work.GordonAdshead09/11/2019
Amazing. A wind farm that actually welcomes visitors. Open gate with welcome notice board next to it. Unhindered access to the top.moorsman18/10/2019
From wind farm entrance, no animals!DC11main14/09/2019
Passing so why not a stroll up through turbines to its summit with Jenx, Bryher and Willnordicstar25/03/2019
Nice grassy field, no animals today. All quite nice for a windfarm! With B, W, and R.jenx25/03/2019
Mud-fest! Layby parking on A595 at NY 1731 3809. Field gate 100m NE. Field boundary initially then into the muddy stubble field. Wind turbines share the land with arable crops (although none today). An indeterminate HP.jonglew13/12/2017
First to trig point then to wind farmBlue The Dog16/08/2016
From wind farm entrance to west, where there is plenty of parking. Gates now bolted, but site notice only referred to ban on vehicles, so convenient assumed they were happy to allow pedestrians. Sheep in field no bullocks. Obvious grass top.Hillsidenick23/04/2016
From track to the east.Lionel Bidwell10/04/2016
With Damian. Easy walk along the lane from the east. No bullocks! We also visited the trig point on our way back from Moota Hill.Dangerous Dave27/12/2015
From spacious entrance to wind farm to NW at NY 17181 37959. Crazy galloping bullocks unnerving!David Gradwell23/08/2015
Easy walk from layby to NW to featureless summit. Fifty or so frisky bullocks charging towards you was a bit disconcerting though...Aye Jimmy08/08/2015
From NW access to turbines. Lots of parking here off road. Gate not locked even. Easy walk. Frisky bullocks still here but ok if you know how to manage them. Great views on sunny day. Revisited trig opposite sfterwards. Gates open so had easy access, otherwise nettles would have been a nuisance.nordicstar03/07/2015
From main gate. Good views but 30 frisky and inquisitive bullocks in close attendance.peebs23/06/2015
Followed RoW from NNE (marker post at start has been felled: it's the westerly gate by the shed) although the whole wind farm has public access with good parking at main (NW) entrance. Bullocks inquisitive but not aggressive; turbines busy on a breezy morning. Looks like an old limekiln at field edge N of summit.RHW17/05/2015
