Thanks Charles! For letting me know of this tump’s deletion on my birthday. I am gutted! See previous entry of a few weeks ago! So summer challenge - walk all the way to Epping Forest and back about 20 miles same route or a marathon if I walk back via the river Lea. Easier option train back from Waltham Cross is only 15 miles walk! Does that count!pdantic08/02/2021
My 6th ascent of my nearest tump, this time walked all the way from my house as done in the 3rd lockdown and I had cycled there twice before, other 3 visits drove to close to hill. Cloudy day with a little bit of drizzle on the final ascent. Approached from Rye park, Hoddesdon via the New river to Broxbourne to River Lea and then footpath which resembled mud filled trenches at times from Kings weir south of Nazeing marsh to the slopes north west up edge of field to the summit gate and easy climb over to summit! Descended by the national cycle trail and back via river Lea and Dobbs weir back to rye house and then home!. Went with my friend Iain socially distanced! A walk of 10.5 miles in total!pdantic20/01/2021
Parked at start of Coleman Lane. Continued on path beyond houses, going slightly downhill. Left over bridge, then follow field edge for 50m to find an easy way through the hedge under a large oak tree into summit field. 14th top today and completes Essex Tumps.PGCE31/05/2020
Lockdown bike ride from home: Oakwood - Lea Valley cycle path - Clayton Hill - Epping Forest - Pole Hill - Oakwood. This time did as other logs suggest and continued down the path W a few yards before going through the bushes and under a bwf to the top.Mark Jackson30/05/2020
Up track from B road.CreakingHiker05/11/2019
From Coleman Lane.Easiest access from path beyond house, leads to summit field. Easier than stile by white post. Essex completion.Bramley30/10/2019
As others, walked along Coleman's Lane to just past last house, then into bushes on left and under bwf into field.Aye Jimmy08/09/2019
Broxbourne to Cheshunt.Smudge01/01/2019
Walked up Coleman’s Lane, down FP then through undergrowth to field. Could have got there by gate but didn’t.PeterD12/04/2018
Essex completion. I won't be back in a hurry. Drove up Coleman's Lane but no parking so parked at the entrance to the lane on paving for country park. Lots of bwfs and summit in soggy field.Campbell Singer22/02/2018
Essex completion. On the way up the lane you pass two white posts with 4 & 25 vic cap 42 & the London coat of arms on them. These were erected in the 1860s & are coal-tax posts. Forming an irregular loop between 12 & 18 miles from London, any coal brought in to this area was taxed. Originally 280 posts of which 210 remain.ngthack03/12/2017
My 4th ascent cycled in from Hoddesdon as for my 3rd ascent, only this time I checked top with GPS. My 2nd ascent was with vegibagger, 3rd ascent cycled in from home in Hoddesdon along river Lee and national cycle route. This time navigated to grid reference shown, top could be anywhere, but favourite on my GPS was 38817 04339! Agree with other bagger as this point is just south of the spot height.pdantic29/08/2017
Essex TUMP completion doing the final 8 today.Dugswell205/03/2017
10th of 19 tops today to complete Essex and London hills in rain and dark. This one completes Essex. Muddy roadside verge parking, then along Coleman's Lane to an old stile at TL38940437. Short distance S between hedgerows before forcing a way into the summit field. Crossed into field to S, but it's lower. Plumped for the HP a bit S of the OS spot.jonglew06/02/2017
Lovely off-road approach from Cheshunt station through Lea Valley Country Park and up the cycle path from Holyfield Hill Farm. Up track from E - if I'd read logs before setting out I might have gone down the other side far enough to make it into the summit field, but I didn't leave the track so am counting the later revisit as the real summitting.Mark Jackson03/06/2016
Walked a round from Fisher's Green in Lea Valley CP. Outward via cycle track, returning via sailing club. Access to summit is along field edge by waymarked junction by house on Colemans Lane.Buteobuteo16/02/2016
Route as veggiebagger from end of track to east - parking OK - just. Best not to take a short cut before the bridge as triple barbed wire in places.destaylor19/01/2016
With Phil Dant. His local tump summit SE of his house in Hoddesden.up the track from the east. Go beyond the biggest pint and down slightly for just about 20/25m to a white cat iron post and small bridge left then up along field side and then up left through gate into summit field. Pick your high point with a figure of eight wander over the field!vegibagger01/09/2015

Essex completed for 3rd time: anymore tumps to add, anyone?RHW26/06/2015
My nearest tump! Climbed with daughter Laura on first ascent. From bottom of road to the road at 393040 SE, up Colemans lane past houses, down other side a bit turn left over bridge up by hedge to gate and left into summit field.pdantic06/06/2015
Parked on verge at E end of lane. Plentiy of gaps in hedge opposite top house, but had to climb new fence. Could have reached new gate into field from NW edge. On route from Cambridge to visit the Medway points before returning to ManchesterGordonAdshead19/04/2015
Climbed as a leisurely Easter walk.Brodie05/04/2015
Like Chris went up at dusk, not quite so late. Top of lane and found gap into field. Been past here many time down by river w/out realising it could be a Tump.nordicstar24/03/2015
I found this new Tump (in Essex of all places) whilst planning a grand 12 hour tour of 33 tops (Tumps, Trigs, London Borough tops etc). Top no.30 in the dark at 10pm - up footpath passing blinking red eye of security camera. Tiptoed past 2 summit houses even though on ROW, then circled around to west to find a gate into rough field for summit spot height.Chris Pearson16/03/2015
