Nearest free parking is at NU 1174 4321 (but probably not a good place during a big Spring tide). Walked from there to the castle, and used a free Autumn Pass from the National Trust in lieu of a ticket. An unexpectedly free visit to Holy Island!PGCE09/10/2023
Glorious day following the Indian summer visitors… hot day.N.Morters06/09/2023

Taken aback by how busy the island was. Although a notice declared that booking ahead was necessary for entry to the castle, admission was permitted subject to control on numbers.summitsup09/09/2021

A visit to Lindisfarne with Lesley exploring the Priory (from the boundary) the Coastguard lookout tower and then past the old fort and across the harbour to take the path leading to the castle. This is the only place i have seen where yoi can park your dog! We explored the Castle including setting foot all over the upper battery. We walked back into the village after a brief look at the walled garden. We stopped for a short walk beside the dunes near the Snook Tower before leaving.Dazingdale02/10/2019
From main parking P&D, round Priory first then accross to Castle. bit late so ££pricey for 45 mins walk around to gain high point. Warm & dry great views.apricorum23/09/2019
Parked at Fenham then followed RoW N past Lindisfarne Festival which was running in a field to S of causeway. At causeway followed the Pilgrims' Path across the sands to the island - water was no more than calf deep. National Trust membership meant access to castle was free.Wheelsy30/08/2019

Village car park is £3.50 for three hours (no shorter period allowed). An occasional shuttle bus runs to the castle but most people just follow the hordes through the village and then along the NT path. £9.90 entry (2019)moorsman02/08/2019
Paid to go in and the high point is at the far end of the Upper Battery.clivevilla21/06/2019

Third time on the island, but first visit to the actual castle. One of those buildings that looks better from a distance away.agentmancuso09/04/2019
Interesting island but a bit overrun.Fred Windsor13/09/2018
Walked from the main car park, through the village and along the bay, with glorious views of the coast and the island that only improve as you get to the upper battery.Nick Down127/07/2018
Straightforward visit to castle covered in scaffolding. Interesting crossing as I had misread tide times. You can make it within 90 minutes of high tide, though ankles might get wet.Thearlaichdubh09/07/2018

Castle now open again, although still covered in scaffolding. Very busy. It's nowhere near as good as the similar St Michael's Mount in Cornwall - if you're not an NT member you're going to chafe a bit at the entry fee. We did see lots of seals from the courtyard though, basking on rocks out in the bay. And the drive out to the island is a bit surreal. Make sure you also make time to go and see the lime kilns near the castle.wheresthepath08/04/2018
Castle shut for extended renovation work. Check NT website.jimbloomer30/05/2017
With Mrs G. £7.30 entrance fee paid (each!). HP effectively the upper battery. A pair of bonus benchmarks on lower battery wall.jonglew10/10/2016
Getting away from it all on a Bank Holiday weekend, with a few thousand others... and this was just the Friday! £2.40 to park a mile away, £7.30 to get in.Aye Jimmy26/08/2016
Parked in the large carpark before Holy Island village and then walked up to and around Lindisfarne Castle. Busy but beautiful place.JohRvs12/08/2016

Made way to Upper Battery at west end of castle. High point lies at NE corner of battery, the floor of which is built on the whinstone below. (DB,LB,JW)gerrybowes16/08/2015
Floor of upper battery sits directly on rock. GPS on top of wall at W end read 34m with highest visible rock c.2m below (natural HP presumably under floor and higher than this). My GPS typically reads 2-3m too high. If not P30m I bet it's closeRHW10/05/2015
